forgot how to race!! 300zx
Im a CheaTR cammed, 3.73 geared M6, with almost every bolt-on but headers. New Continental tires, not nearly as much traction as my old GS-D3s.
Not much of a story here. Driving home with the tops off (first time they've been off in about a month, I had a nice ride home). Driving through town I pull to a light, and soon does a white 300ZX with at least exhaust, and his GF in the car. Pretty chill. Im in the center of a three-lane road, he's in the right lane. He throws me a red-line rev, i tach it to 4000prm to let him know im game.
Well, long story short, I launch too hard and end up spinning all the way to 5000rpms (internal monologue --> :stupi d: , by the time i let off and get some traction, hes a few cars ahead. I catch up by about 70-75, but he's letting off and getting into the left hand turn lane.
We talk at the light, pretty cool people. Complimented each others cars, gave him props. Went our separate ways. I practiced launching at every red light the rest of the way home. I also told myself that I'm getting GS-D3s next time its time for tires.

DO NOT get GS-D3 if you want traction. They are a good all around performance tire, but also made to get good mileage. I have them on my car, squeeling and fishtailing if I stomp on it from a stop or slow roll.
The stickiest street tire I have found are the BFG KD, not KDW or KDW2. Even better would of course be street legal drag radials, MT DR, BFG DR, or Nitto DR.

will82: my old GS-D3s are a lot better for traction than what I have now (conti-trac by continental or somethin like that... had to budget), but i hear what your saying.
capn smokey: yeah, it hurts. If its any condolance, I whooped on an Integra GSR tonight with a few mods, so i dont feel as bad.
