Default 02 Hawk vs 99-04? Bullitt

This took place yesterday. I was coming back from Wal-Mart in O'Side and I was behind a 99-04? Mustang Bullitt, 93-97? Z28 and a Ricer of some sort, well, i passed all three of them, turned right onto Vandergrift and me and the Bullitt took off from a 40 punch to 110mph. He wasn't that bad, I pulled by about 2-3 car lengths. Just figured I would share.

Nice kill
The Bullitts only have a few mild suspension upgrades and beefed up brakes. Some interior touches too. I'm almost positive they didn't do anything to the engine.

It had a different (aluminum) intake manifold and a different upper plenum/TB design that was good for about 10hp. But that's about it.

i was actually wondering if there was anything different about the bullitt motors than the regular gt's. theres a guy at school with one. its really nice, he's got some appearance mods that really make it stand out from the rest, but the only performance mod he has is a cat-back. we haven't gotten around to racing yet. does anybody else know about the bullitt motors?

That's pretty much the only difference. It was the first use of the Tremec 3650 5spd, but all GTs switched over in mid '01.

I heard they were quite a bit quicker than Gts but maybe they just feel like it.

The Bullit intake is a common swap for us GT guys. It gives more real world gains of 10-15rwhp. The bullitt cars with the better flowing intake T/B and suspension can hit mid 13s stock, still not really a good run for a LS1.

^^^ mid 13s at best.

Nice kill. Like everyone else said, the bullet would be like an '01-'02 LS1 compared to a '98-'00. On a side note, is your car a real firehawk? If so please tell me you didn't choose to replace your firehawk hood with the SLP HO hood.

Yea, but the Firehawk hood is . I'm still partial to LT1 WS6s though... just personal preference.

Firehawk hood ***. I'm curious too. Why IMHO downgrade from the firehawk hood to the WS6? Like the clean beak look myself but I consider the Firehawk hood on my car from time to time.

As soon as www.imboc.com comes back on line because they have announced the 2008 bullitt and we had some inside photo ops with it and too many people are hitting the site.

The bullitt is not a cobra and was not meant to be but it was more then just an appearance package. I has more done to it then people think. The biggist thing is not the amount of HP it got but what the torque did. Its instant on and stays all the way to the end. where the other mustangs you have to get up in the power band for it to kick in.
