Default BMW 335 vs Mercedes E55 AMG

BMW 335 has V2 tune with high flow cat downpipes and exhaust.
E55 AMG is stock

Stock the E55 will do 0-60 in 4.2 and the 1/4 mile in 12.4. (469HP and 516TQ at the crank)

This is from an event in Switzerland where they rent out an airfield and race from about 30mph to 155mph (electronic limiter).

E55 is about 3860lbs
BMW 335 with an exhaust is about 3540 lbs. (3570 stock)

Each car had 2 people in it, can't speak for their weights but the bmw looks to have got the jump and pulled just slightly and held it.

E55 is $77k+, BMW335 46k and about $3,600 in mods.

E55's are pretty sick cars. I had the pleasure of racing one. I only beat him from 60 to 110 by about a car length.

Cool runs. Wish we had a sensible place in Norcal to do top speed runs legally.

LMAO...
So a stock BMW 335, which runs mid-high 13's at around 104-106mph is going to put several cars on an E55 which will run low-mid 12's at around 113-116mph (mine went 12.4@114mph in 85* weather with no cool down) with a tune and downpipe?
I doubt it.

Nah...because to me, it's still just a 3-series BMW.

Well in that case, don't call BS if you're not sure.

I know what they run stock (I've seen them). And I know the fastest one out there only goes 12.4 @ 109mph.
Run along.

lol... "run along." That's funny. You just sound a bit too elitist when you say **** like "it's still just a 3-series BMW."

Believe whatever you want to believe. The v2 tune is just getting into the hands of people. It offers about 40whp more than the v1 tune. The catless DP's show about a 28 whp gain over stock, catted 22whp gain over stock.

One of the tuners hit 400whp yesterday for the first time (tune, catback, and 98 octane only, no DP's yet).

Every month there are improvements. I think we will see many cars with high 11's in the next year.

The people who put together those races in Switzerland are well respected and hold good events. I can't speak for driver skill but seems you would dismiss anything about this type of car.

It is just another 3 series, that's the point. BMW put together a tuners dream finally that with a little bit of money is able to reach or surpass the straight line accelration of the new M3, and some of Audi's, and Mercedes better cars.

Thanks. I assumed people here were car enthusiats and not just brand enthusiasts. It's good to know about other cars and their capabilities. I come here because I am a huge firebird fanatic, I currently drive something else, but help work on my brothers firebird and plan to pick up a new camaro when they come out.

I will stop posting here and just come in as a guest. Sorry to invade your space.

Don't bother me at all. They're both beautiful cars that deserve respect.

I was very interested in the post. I'm glad BMW has something besides the M3 now. Dont get me wrong I love the M3 but it will be cool to see something different running around.
