We know of one which ran high 10's with drag radials and nothing else. Maybe there are more, but the owners were giving big kudos to "Ranger" for his excellent driving, so I figure the number is fairly small. If you think anyone will see 9 second consistency by merely adding 75hp nitrous from that point, you may need to get deeper into the drag racing scene. With a 100 shot, 9's might indeed happen, but that's not a "written in stone" promise by any means. Simple rule: The faster/quicker you go, the more difficult is becomes to go faster/quicker still. Adding a 100shot to a 13 second car may well see 12's, but 10's to 9's is very different. Things break with more abuse and power, traction being one of those things. And if traction doesn't, the rearend could, etc.

Not sure it will be as easy as you make it sound. The best stock time with DRs is 10.80 in about the best DA possible. Add 75 to 100 and your looking at 10.20 to 10.40 IF you keep it hooked to the track. If you have some link or something to back up where a stock Z06 with DRs and a 100 shot ran a 9.99 or less, I'd like to see it... Maybe i just need an edumacation.

I read it in the newest C&D or Motorweek, which ever it's on the cover of currently...it's an Orange Super Snake. C&D only got the GT500 to hit 12.5 I belive as well. Of course, the best they could muster with a Z on one comparo was a 12.0, which later they bettered. The SuperSnake is listed in that article at 4065lbs, if my memory serves me correct, just a hair below the weight of a Chrysler Hemi 300.

Hey I believe that he beat a GT500 as was said above it was the street and anything can happen. I mean **** I remember beating an lt1 f-body by about 15 lengths at one point in my stock 03 mach 1, my car is faster to start but not 15 lengths faster. Everyone is telling him to stop bashing the GT500 I’d probably being doing the same thing if I took one in a race, even if I knew a lot of it had to do with luck.

As for 12.8 being the fastest GT500 run ever that is very far from true 12.257 at 117.18 (2.11 60-foot) is the fastest I've ever read.

and again the Ford GT only runing high 11's stock is false as well, Motor Trend ran a 11.2 @ 131.2 (not to take away from the Z06 in anyway it is still the best bang for your buck)

I agree...a couple of folks out of HOW MANY Z06 owners have gotten a bone stock one down the 1/4 in under 11 seconds on DRs only? Just Dr. Ron and Ranger on other forums. Most Z owners are not the drivers these guys are. As far as a 100 shot and slicks and you're in 9's....not that easy. Maybe on paper, with perfect conditions, it looks possible, but reality set in and you still have to know how to drive all that power down the track. Launching a vette isn't as easy as launching a stang or f-body, either. The weight in a vette is pretty evenly distributed, so there isn't that great weight transfer that assists your 60's and launch like in the aforementioned cars, unless you've done major suspension mods.

Yes, I remember the stock GT500 run by a professional driver at 12.25, but just remember, an amature(not taking anything away from him, he just doesn't get paid to drive) driver posted a 12.21 bone stock in an 06 automatic trannied C6, with 100HP less than that car. There are a few others close to that as well, in the stock C6 area, but no one reasonably close to Evan Smith's GT500 12.257 in the stock GT500 world.

Thanks for repeating...and i think it is worth noting that the 12.2 came on the as-delivered junk radials.

Since you guys want to talk about modded cars lets talk about what a camaro does with a blower. Bolt on a procharger boost 8psi and you get 630hp to the wheels. Add some nos and your in the 9's. Probly will need a new rear end but it will do it.

Sounds simple enough...why have you not done that to yours?
