They have pills for that. You can get them from your shrink.

When the C6 first came out, they ran an LS2 Corvette Z51 against an LS6 C5 Z06, and the LS6 won by a decent amount. I don't remember the source of the test though.....d'oh!

Some LS6 Z06s stock have been faster than LS2 C6s stock, no doubt, but thats using the fastest times of the C5Z vs the fastest times for the C6, which is fair in it's own rights, but on average, for most drivers, it's a really close race, about even odds for either car.The CTS-V, being a bit heavier than either the C5Z or the C6, really shouldn't stand a chance, even with the V being a six speed and the C6 being a vert, since the C6 vert is only about 50-70lbs heavier than the non vert C6.Once up to speed, weight and aerodynamics kick in and if both were stock, the CTS-V would be getting a nice view of dissapearing C6 taillights.Again, the C6 the OP mentioned only needed one mod to win the race, the all important driver mod.

Yeah, I should have, by all odds, lost my race against a C6 vert too, but it's all about the driver. Not saying I'm good, just saying he wasn't.

All races are driver races if the cars are similar in HP and weight. Alot of people forget and get too much into what 1/4 mile and 0-60/0-100 times are listed in magazines and on the net and "paper race", thinking that they can replicate what others have done, when there is much more experienced drivers behind the wheels of these cars. I'm so tired of reading on other forums about people saying "I own a C6 Z06, so it must be a 10.9 second car, because thats what another guy got."Nonononono...he drove his car to it's potential, that doesn't mean the average joe can replicate those numbers at will. Way too many videos on the net of great cars getting "killed" by not so great cars, just because the owners of those great cars shouldn't be allowed to drive a go-kart, more or less a 400-600HP sports car.

ok...well it must be that you happen to have the fastest "stock" CTS-V ever produced and you're the greatest driver in the world...that make you feel better, you big, bad, vette killer....
you sound butt hurt, and are committing alot of time to prove your mood points. This happened. And yes I know your car is fast, no need to "call" me out. lol....

I believe it comes down to gearing guys. I was in a juicy part of my rpm band, it was a short roll race.

moot....MOOT point....geez...public schools.....

BTW, never "called you out" and am not "butt hurt", just hate seeing people belive they can take all of a certain type of car judged by the way some no-skill drivers drive them. Didn't mean anything personal, but it's one of my pet peeves.

I guess our mostly stock GTO and CTS-V are 'not so great cars'.

Yes we all need to be able to afford C6's before we should even be allowed to look at cars or even post on these boards.

The C6 Everything else regardless of how nice it looks or how fast it is. Maybe I should go out and blow the doors off a C6 to relieve some stress.

The CTS-V's should run high 12's bone stock if not for there traction limitations and wheel hop issues. Most of them trap from 108-111 mph which is plenty mph with a good launch for high 12's. Also depending on the year it could have been a 2.73 A4 which with the TM and complete E- masculation of them make them a tune away from greatness.

And on the streets its anybodys game.

Well its like the 120 mph traps the mags have gotten out of C6 Z06's. It gives me hope that maybe just maybe if the stars align I could beat one from a roll, but I would never expect to!

If you were to swap the LS6 out for an LS2 in the same car, it would be marginally faster because the LS2 has significantly better low end at the sacrifice of 5 peak horsepower. However, in the case of the C5 ZO6 vs. the C6, the ZO6 wins because it's significantly lighter and the marginal overall power gain of the LS2 can't overcome it.

The Z06's lighter weight plus its close ratio MN12 gearbox are what make the LS6 C5 Z06 with a good driver so fast.

There vid on youtube of c5 Z06 and c6 racing.I am pretty sure both were stock 6 speed cars. The out come is predictable 400 hp. to 405 hp. similar weight maybe a tank of gas difference.
