So my friend bought a 2001 Mustang GT (manual 5 speed) about two months ago, and ever since has been saying how he will smoke me in a race....everytime he said it, I would laugh and let him have his moment...
Anyway, this last weekend we finally got together and raced, actually it was on New Years eve....Took a while because we live an hour away from each other.
So, when he gets to town I proceed to ask what mods he has done, and he said, SLP LM1, Racing clutch, and a good driver
My mods are (auto w/ 2.73 gears): SSRA, SLP lid, smooth bellow, ported TB, TB bump stop mod, and SLP LM1 (more to come in the near future)
I kept telling him that he would not win, but he basically guaranteed that he would. The first race we started from a dig and I got like 5 car lengths on him (claimed he missed 3rd gear). The second race we went from a 20mph roll, and I got about 3 cars on him (no excuses, just shame)
Anyway, I just thought I would share, and I have a really crappy video (well not quality, but the person who filmed did a really shitty job) if anyone is interested.....just let me know and I will post it!

good kill, most stangs need alot invested to be bolt on ls1 fast. unless its a Cobra though. 03-04.

That's classic some people just don't know where they stand or anything about cars in general. I love my car and I know it isn't slow but that doesn't mean I go around telling LS2 vettes that they don't stand a chance.

anotherone bits the dust.....and to ad to the list of wothy opponets......a 99 to 01 cobra...there baisicly the same as a mach but have the irs and diff cams and heads aimed for peak tq instead of power like the 01 cobra's

i was only comparing the mach to the 01 cobra with the differences listed...i realise the 03 and 04 cobra has more power and tq....just comparing the n/a aluminum versions of the same motor and the suspension difference. and what would also be worthy

PS - let him know that a good driver mod in a significantly slower car is only going to help out if the guy in the other car is a significantly worse driver.

The thing that suprised me the most about his ignorance is that my friend works on cars all the time. He has a 1989 IROC Camaro, a 1970 stepside Chevy truck that runs 12's!! and of course his mustang.....before he got the truck it ran 16's all day, lol, so he is pretty knowledgable about older cars....he did all the work on it himself, and he is adding a blower to it in the near future.

The same day we raced he said he was buying a performance pack for his Mustang. I asked him what was in the pac, and all he said was a "racing chip" and some intake parts that is supposed to add 200rwhp! lol, so I don't know what the hell is up with his knowledge on newer cars...

no if you read what i said carfuly i said that the mach has cams designed for more peak tq in the mid rpm and has the same heads as the 03 cobra. and the n/a cobra has cams designed for better top end high rpm power

mach 1 305 hp 320tq
99-01 cobra 320hp 317tq
