I agree...automatics are no fun...anybody can mash their foot to the floor....but can you keep it there, pop the clutch, and shift a gear at the same time...now that is driving

M6 for street racing, A4 for the strip. I have a stalled auto that give alot of the awd guys a problem at the track. The m6 you can place more where you want when already at driving speeds.

An M6 is a lot more fun to drive, but a properly stalled A4 sure seems to be faster.

I feel like the stick helps a lot with lower powered cars (especially 4 bangers) just for sheer fun to drive value, I've driven both A4 and M6 LS1s and I couldn't really decide. Sometimes if I'm lazy the A4 is just fine, other times I get the gear rowing itch. I'm biased to the M6 though for the simple fact that my car eats A4s like they're going out of style... oh wait they are...

I wouldn't say that. The new 6 speed autos seem to be the wave of the future. It may just be the clutch that actually goes out of style.

That's your prerogative. I wouldn't have a dedicated track car unless
it ran 8's. 9 second cars are fun on the street, but impossible with
a stick.

I honestly don't think you'll understand what I'm talking about until you drive
a 6 or 700hp stick car. There's no reason for a car like that to be "track only"
but an automatic sure makes it power than can be used on the street.

But only from a dig, from a roll when you are in a automatic you have a slight disadvantage. And the fun factor is always going to be greater in a manual car.

I'm not talking about a stock car and a stock transmission.
A good converter will take car of any advantage the stick car may
have.

From a dig or a slow roll (~20MPH) a built auto for sure.
From a roll the a manual trans.

However with the right converter a built auto has very little disadvantage from a higher speed roll than most think

OP, you gotta pick your poison. Which do you prefer? I've had both and both have advantages. Digs go to the auto hands down. Rolls tend to favor M6, but a properly set-up auto can easily be a hand-full for a similarly modded stick car. Having had both, I honeslty would take the auto any day over the stick car. Some will say that the auto car is boring, but they probably haven't driven a car with a big stall and decent power. It's a blast each and every time!

Am I wrong or will a properly stalled Auto Whoop *** on a 6spd from a dig AND from a roll??? So wouldnt a stalled auto own a 6spd all around??....say both cars put down 600whp....A stalled auto would walk it from a roll and from a dig, correct?

Possible, but rare. No matter how efficient the converter is, it still has to "catch up" while the manual trans car is already putting full power to the ground. I recently put in a Yank PT4000 in my car and from a roll this thing really moves out - much better than the old one I had from another company with an excellent reputation. I swear with the DRs on a 40MPH punch feels like the LF tire pulls off the ground

My buddies car has a 4400 stall w/ 4.10's and from a roll it is a beast. Auto is the only way to go when you are racing for MONEY. You dont have to worry about a missed shift costing you the race and it is eaiser to hook on the street when you have alot of power. you guys that dont agree with that have never speed shifted a m6 car with alot of power and have it damn near cross up with you. Thats why i sold my t56 and got the th350.

It is hard for me to say this, But I think the guy in the FORD is right!

I admit, I miss haveing a 6sp sopmetimes, but just not as fast as the auto.
At least for a mere mortal man like myself. I am sure someone will chime in about some 6sp car that can do this or that, but for the most part the auto is going to win races.

And no hard feelings about the Ford comment, J/K around. Alot of my friends are Ford guys. In fact I am kina the odd man out in my group of friends , most of them are Ford guys and I hear about it all the time.
