At least they are relative to each other so no excuse is needed! Trap speeds would help though!

Excuses he can use are heatsoak and the 2-3 shift? Combined thats about .2-.3 seconds and 4-5mph.

I'm trying to stay away from spray as long as possible, but headers can't do because of smog regulations. I'm not sure if dumps after cat are legal here either.
Damn, that sucks. I can't believe there are no people running around in California with headers. What do they do if they aren't legal? Swap manifolds back on for emissions everytime it comes around????

I wish it was that easy. but now that you got me thinking, I might as well just build a project car than to F around with my car that I'm still paying for. Does any one know for how much a 94-97 LT1 are going for. With all the money im spending to reach my goal I can easily build a 400+ rwhp Camaro

The Z06 was trapping 112-113 and the SRT was right around 100, can't remember for sure though.

300C and Charger SRT8's trap everywhere between 106-110mph stock.

Can't a hand-held tuner easily adjust for it anyway? If there are CARB legal supercharger kits, surely headers can be tuned properly to pass emissions. Do they check visually for headers? I doubt it myself.

Thats the first thing they do. they only look for the location of cat if it has been moved but when most see the long tubes they fail you on the spot.

Absolutely spot-on in terms of the altitude effects. Add 9-10mph for both, basically and they are still relative to each other.

Are there not smog stations that are better known than others to go to for tuners?

Not at 4400' they don't...

It's been since summer but I think it was the srt that had some serious off the line traction, that may contribute to his times.

I don't understand why LT's are a no no. As long as it passes the sniffer who cares? California sucks as far as smog laws go. Everything has to have a carb # and everything.

My first question would be for the Corvette forums - are there any smog legal headers?

Second, $150 to pay a "tuner-friendly" smog station is absolutely insignifcant in terms of the parts and labor costs + the gains seen.

I would guess CA has more header-equipped cars than most of the states in the US, combined, being the car-capital of the US....

Hey if your down in the perris area. How about checking out the Friday Hooters Meet in Moreno Valley/ Riverside. We could always use another MY Z06.

yes but I believe only shorty headers which after asking in the corvette forums said are a waste of money because the stock Z06 headers flow the same if not better.

I'm not quite sure what you meant. But I was bieng sarcastic and I meant paying someone more to pass an illegal car.

Yes they do, that doesn't mean that they are CARB legal. I know several people with F and Y body's that have LT's and no cats that still have tags because they paid to pass them.
