03 Z06 Vs 300 SRT-8
Sorry guys no video for this one.
I was actually driving back from the "Sonics" meet. I saw some familiar tail lights far away. But I ignored them when I only saw one chrome tip(I thought the it was the SXT V6). But he got a red light and as I pull up my bro. tells me thats its actually an SRT-8(one tip was really dirty which is the reason i didnt see it.) After trying to get away from the traffic I put it in third and cruised up to him. I was at 61mph too scared to slam it in 2nd and he punches it( those 6.1 hemi sound nice) I floor with his front fender at my front bumper. the 3rd pulls hard but I would of pulled harder in 2nd. through most of third gear he is right next to me but at about 5200-5300 I start pullin. I shift to fourth and continue pulling to about 105 and he ended up about 1/2 a car behind my bumper.
He pulled at the light we gave him the . he asked what I had, I said exhaust. Then I asked what he had, he said he had basic bolt-ons. So we drive off, but end up in the same freeway.
this time I'm at about 76mph and in third. I pull up to him and honk three time and floors it but now my car actually pulls like its suppose to. Instanly pulled 3/4 of a car and by the time i was in fourth 115mph he was 2 1/2 cars behind.
The guy was cool about losing to a two seater
Sorry for the long story.

Nice kills! I ran into one of those at the track once and my brother was making fun of me telling me I better not lose or I'll never hear the end of it (we had lined up in the staging lanes). Come to find out, it's got a blower and supporting mods and trapped over 120. My brother ALSO lost to it that day.

Nice kill! Interesting differences in gearing and outcomes. 60mph is the sweetspot for 2nd gear in the SRT-8 and 76mph closer to the bottom of 3rd.
Good thing you didn't go from a dig, it would have been a lot worse for him!

True but... He was a little dude. I kinda look like this guy --> and my bro was with me. He also said that he had bolt-on's versus my stock Z(my exhaust didnt give my any more power ) Which together kind added up to the outcome.

Great driveability with my cam, cold starts used to be an issue, but minor tuning and we just turned up the idle to about 1100 cold start, 900 after a few minutes and no issues in CT winter weather. My buddy put down 405rwhp I believe with same cam as mine (never had cam only in my car), so you should be able to see some good numbers if you go with the proper supporting mods. No bolt-ons yet? What are you planning on?

I want this car to be my autoX/street car. My goal is this to have C5 styling with C6 Z06 power So I'm pretty much trying to build a stock looking car(no shiney longtube headers, fast intake manifolds, or chrome exhaust, thats why I bought a modified Ti instead of borlas) but performance of these newer machines. I'm hoping to see 380+ rwhp with cam only. BTW PewterScreaminMach do live in SoCal.. I swear I've seen a pewter Z cruising around where I live.

I can't imagine a 2003 LS6 will have any trouble putting down 380 with a cam only, even a smallish cam like that. But I'm confused. You aren't going to install any bolt-ons? You're definitely going to need headers and exhaust to let that cam breath how it's supposed to. I've seen one cam only stealth/cheater cam type car running stock manifolds that was trapping like 114-115, but that was with aftermarket heads (a 2000 or so SS). In order to see Z06 performance, at least in a straight line, I would imagine you'll need upwards of 475rwhp to do so, and the only way you're doing that on a stock block is with a strong H/C package, including quality supporting mods such as a 90/90. On the road course, it's going to require some good suspension mods and probably lightweight mods, as well.
Tell us more specifically about your power mod plans.

So far til next year the only modifications I will be able to buy will be the cam and tune, good street tires(michelin's or pirellis), slotted rotors, and if I do need it I will get the k&n intake or just the vara ram. I'm trying to stay away from spray as long as possible, but headers can't do because of smog regulations. I'm not sure if dumps after cat are legal here either.

Nice kill! There was a 300 SRT-8 at the track here (4400') running high 14's consistantly. It was kinda sad really... But then again, there were 2 C6 Z06's running mid 13's that day too. Made me feel good running low 13's/high 12's!
