You might wanna do it quick before I got some cash and throw the h/c on there. I think it would be much closer than you think as is though. Yours still don't shift right.

I think they might do it for the rush. Knowing they will lose its still a rush. Plus they might be doing it just to see how well they do and to see how fast you are. Curious a little maybe. Like I would race a Z06 in my Formula just to compare how much faster it is.

I know why they do it but my old truck could probably lay down the law and I have no delusions that it is fast.
Hopefully they are just curious and don't actually think the fartpipe and intake make their cars race cars. .

I had an OLD modded civic come up on my *** this morning while I was in the Exige and he rode like inches from my ***...So I downshifted and toasted him...and he took the next exit. I am not sure what he was doing...but I hate that. If you are gonna race then race..don't tailgate just to act like a *** and then exit.
I have no problems with "ricers". I do have a problem with the entire ricer theory. "Ill just get me a civic for 8k and then spend 10k modding it out and blow away any car on the road" Cause what usually happens is they spend 8k on the car..then 1k on the exhuast and intake. When they could have just spent 9k on and LT1 and been way faster.

Sorry I know that this a pretty old post, but being a 3000GT AND LS1 owner, I HAD to clear some things up.
Well to start, I own a 1995 3000GT Base model. It has the 222HP DOHC 3.0L V6 motor with the 5 spd. transmission. From 1991-1996 the 3000GT base model had the 222HP DOHC 3.0L V6 motor, the only difference with the SL model was it had leather seats, sunroof, etc. From 1997-1999 there was the base and SL model, but this time the base had the weak SOHC motor with 170HP and the SL had the 222HP DOHC 3.0L V6 motor. The 222HP DOHC 3.0L V6 motor 3000GT's, usually dyno in at apprx. 190ish FWHP.
The 1991-1993 3000GT VR4 was rated at 300HP with the 3.0L Twin Turbo V6 motor with a 5 spd. trans, from 1994-1999 they bumped it up to 320HP and only difference is a 6 spd. These cars have some pretty bad driveterrain loss, usually dyno'ing in at appx. 285AWHP.
The cars are very fun to drive IMO, I had a blast in mine (it is sitting now because the timing jumped and 3rd gear went) I was going to buy a VR4, but then bought a 2001 Trans-Am WS6 instead, but I still do have a soft spot for 3000GT's.
In my 3000GT, I tracked it numerous times, and also street raced it for fun numerous times. Stock for stock it was dead even, a VERY close race with a 1996 Mustang GT 5 spd. I know those aren't the fastest Stangs out there, but for what the 3000 is, I was very proud of it.
At the track all I had done were exhaust mods, a downpipe and test pipe in place of the cat. The car was very hard to get a decent 60' time out of, it liked to spin ALOT the whole way through first, no matter what you nailed it at. My best run in it was a 15.0 @ 94MPH, therefore throwing out the BS of people saying the base and SL models can hardly break 15's, I know with better tires that car would have been in the high 14's. Also it didn't help that it only spun 1 wheel, made it very hard to keep from spinning.
The VR4's normally run mid 13's STOCK, therefore making it a great run against a stock LS1, although the LS1 still has a slight advantage, especially on the highway. But all in all, both are great cars, and don't bash on things until you know the facts.
Well once again im sorry I posted in this old thread, I just had to clear that stuff up

Hell, I have a 92 3000GT SL for my daily, and, it's a great car. REALLY reliable, and suprisingly fun to drive. Sure, it's not fast, but, I imagine it'd do better through curves than most f-bodies.
VR-4's can do high 12s with BPU mods, and a good driver, but some drivers, even with BPU cars, can't seem to hit a 13.5.
And about the "thinking they're fast" part: Yeah, some people do, and it gives a bad rep to the NT's, but, I still enjoy it. I'll give it a little rev next to a car I know I'll get stomped by, because, who doesn't like seeing a fast car go fast? I have a bike to go fast, now THAT'S funny to watch people try to race.
I'm selling both though, LS1 here I come!

Trust me..the 3000GT handles a lot better then an F Body. Im not trying to start flame..its just when I lived in San Francisco I would take my 3000gt up HWY 1. It did really well. F Bodys just do not handle well stock..and people who say they do have not driven a car that does...or are just fan boys.

Im not trying to say f-bodys handle like god, hell my DD legacy handles better than my T/A but the SLs i have driven had tons of roll, although coem to think of it my T/A was lwoered when i bought it so maybe that had somethign to do with my opinion

My Formula was the scariest car I have ever had to try and take around turns. BUT it could be because I am not the best driver in it...or because I was driving my Exige during the same months. So what may have seemed like a good handeling car (3000gt) might have been because of my lack of speed to take me into turns. But I do know I could go into a turn a lot faster. I didn't notice body roll..but mine was a 99 version. So maybe the handeling was better.

Yes, I know you previously said "stock" f body, but don't be like the ricetards that really believe an f body (or ANY solid rear axled car) cannot be modded/made to handle VERY well.

Nobody said they can't be MADE to handle well, but cars that are built for handling start out with an advantage. And once you start modding both, the gap grows. It's kinda like drag racing a 2V GT vs. an LS1... yes, a 2V GT with a few choice mods can put up a fight against a stock LS1, but once you start modding both it becomes apparent which one is faster

Thats why I wrote stock![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
I know you can get an F BOdy to handle well..its just I have never been in one that was modded out in the hadeling department. So its and area that I am not familiar with. Im only speaking from experience.

why is that anytime a domestic owner feels a guy who just tried to race him with no luck then tries to pass is automatically trying to do a ricer flyby? maybe he sees your not game and is moving on. i mean its crazy to think that on any given road someone would try and pass another person. instead bringing yourself down to his tool level why not just let him pass you? now there are two jackasses out on the road instead of one.

It WAS a flyby BTW.
If not then why did he hang back even after I slowed down to the speed limit after when he WAS speeding badly. Hell you should thank me for slowing him down really. If he hadn't been a tool bag and severely riding my *** and pissing me off I MIGHT have just let him roll on by. Maybe maybe not honestly; I did feel like laying down a beat down that day. Usually I don't give a crap honestly. I can't count how many times lately I let the bastards take off from a light racing while I conserve fuel. And I don't think my car is the fastest **** on the road either. I know it is slow in the grand scheme of things.
Have you ever beat up on slower cars? If you have then STFU! YOUR A JACKASS IF YOU HAVE
![Grin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif)
And what the hell is up with the domestic owner stuff????? If it was a mustang and tried to do the same thing guess what I would say. He was trying to do a flyby.
Commenting about my 4 month old thread? Hell this was soo long ago now I actually have a hard time remembering all the details.

And for your information I have seen the car many many times since and I now enjoy the respect (quiet) he gives my car. I hate unmuffled 4 banger in the morning honestly. There is a certain Civic SI that lives within a 1/2 mile of me and I plan on doing the same thing just because of the noise pollution

Once I raced a Trans Am in my 3000gt. I got up to 100 with him on my ***...then later realized he was not racing...just going the same speed as me. I was sure I was winning too. Well..up until the point he flew around me when I was racing him. Then I caught him to give him a thumbs up and it turns out he was an *******.
