Default 08 Mustang GT killed

Today I raced my buddy at the local 1/8 mile track. He just got an 08 Mustang GT with a 5 speed. A pretty nice car. He thought his car was pretty bad *** until we ran them and I killed him like he was a ricer. I ran a best of 8.655 on my slick *** hard tires. I need new ones . He ran about 9.2. It was agood time. Every one was looking at his car drooling over even though I was the one winning. Too many ford people were there. Just letting everyone know how the 08 ponies are coming along. The only mod to my car is a magnaflow catback.

was he stock if he was you better watch out when he starts modding because those gts really wake up with a cold air and a tune.ive killed a stock one by 4 or 5 cars but when he got a cold air and a tune xpipe and removed his cats i only got him by one and a half cars.good kill though and nice car!!

Yeah his car was stock. I've got some headers and an ory to put on my car to off set any of his mods like the cai and exhaust.

Bullock, NC is in the northern part of granville county. The track I race at is Roxboro Motorsports Dragway. http://www.roxboromotorsports.com/
They may have an 8 second class this year which would allow alot of people to race without having to invest alot of money in their cars

Good kill, but be prepared for his time to drop once he gets some practice... Wouldn't surprise me at all if he dropped into the 8s while he's still stock.

NIce kill. The new gt's impress me with bolt ons i just dont really understand how with mod for mod they make quite a bit less hp than us and weight about the same yet still run close times..i mean the auto's have 5 speed that helps and their gears may help but can someone explain this to me..

From what I hear, they don't make **** for power with bolton's/tune... I thought they needed spray or boost?

i'm sure the mustang guys will chime in on this, but mod for mod they make less power because they're engines are quite a bit smaller than the 346 ci LS1. they are having some success with the newer 3v and 4v engines though. i know they're getting deep into the 12s NA, not sure about 11s. the 2v engines were the ones that wouldn't respond to mods well at all.

Full bolt-on/tuned '05+ GT is over 300rwhp everytime, unless something is wrong with the car/dyno. Even on a Mustang dyno. So that "full bolt-on" 28xrwhp car is a fluke. Might wanna get that checked out.

I would imagine the reason they make less power than an LS1 mod for mod is because they start off with less power to begin with. Just a thought...

here we go again. lol, the 2v Gts are the ones that dont really make much power even with bolt-ons. the new 3v's 2005+ with full boltons can meke 330rwhp and 350rwtq. like ive stated in other threads when all i had was intake exhaust pullys and a tune i made 310rwhp and over 320rwtq. that combined with my gears and it was runnin strong with stock ls1s or minor bolt-on ls1s. but hey boost does help!

really has nothing to do w/ it, especially in the case of something like the supersnakes where they pick up 125 hp from a tune. there are a lot of factors that go into the "modability"

Yeah, I imagine that with a ported Bullit manifold, longtubes, pulley, and a great tune I would make 280-290rwhp. So the 3v definitely has an advantage when it comes to power potential.

Yeah, I would definitely hope so. My exhaust-only ran 9.4 the one time I took it to the track, and that was my first time racing a RWD car at the track. Was cutting 2.2 60' times (not HORRIBLE), and the car was misfiring (coolant leaking into spark plug hole). So even THAT car had a 9.2 or so in it.

Buddy has a 07' GT M5 and with full bolt ons and a tune he made 310hp and 320 trq. Not bad at all i was suprised. But all in all im a typical GM guy and its still a stang..
