I beat a Stang once...in my MR2. I'd prolly beat that Cobalt too, who the hell cares. They are both 14ish cars this is a waste of time and bandwidth.

A Cobalt SS/SC and a 2V GT are pretty much a driver's race IMO. The GT does have a HP advantage, but the Cobalt has the weight advantage.

2991 lbs making 205 hp- 200 lb/ft vs. 3317 lbs making 260 hp- 302 lb/ft. I've seen very similar times from both cars at the track running factory stock......usually low to mid 14s. It's not that far out there. Sub-300 hp V8's are rapidly becoming game for lighter, decently powered sixxers and 4 bangers at an alarming rate. Like it or not.

ok not to stur **** up, wait haha nevermind but why is that suprising he took him off the line? those cobalts are supercharged remember they make peak power pretty quick and dont have to wait as long to hit their power band. also if that cobalt had the upgraded package i cant remember what its called but its a factory option that includes recaro racing seats and a limited slip diff. my buddies cobalt takes off quick with that limited slip, its almost scary because he gets torque steer and as each tire catches un equal traction on the street it pulls left and right like a sidewinder.

205 at the wheels. the cobalts were severly underrated from the factory. a guy in my buddies local cobalt SS crew dyno'ed something like 215 to the wheels completely stock. so thats like what 23x? crank hp and that is only like 30 less than the rustangs. and alot of weight advantage.

Ok, this will be something else you learn from this website... high-torque FWD cars are very tricky to launch. FWD cars in general are pretty tricky to launch. So a torquey V8 RWD car like the Mustang or F-body is capable of getting off the line a good deal quicker than a FWD car. A 2.0 60' is pretty good for a RWD car on street tires... it's nearly impossible with a FWD car on street tires. I learned to launch my Integra pretty well, and the best 60' I ever got was 2.25. Pulled a 2.1 60' in my Mustang the first and only time I had it to the track.

/\ Yes if you notice or look back most with a mustang gettting killed....which is most of these mustang races then you bet your damn *** it will be like 10 pages long.....just to explain that "the mustang had a bad driver" and to defend the precious FORD that looses alot....If I had and I say "if"...I wouldn't race anything until I modded the damn car. I mean hey they look nice but aren't that fast....and again this is speaking for the GTs, not the mach 1s or Cobras-that is something I would own!

Yeah I was like WTF did the cobalt just beat the mustang off the line...

If you look closely the mustang lays marks through 1st.

The cobalt must of had a pretty good driver. My friend has an 03 gt and he pulls like 14.4-14.6's and it is completely stock. I thought the SS cobalts were suppose to pull mid to high 14's stock? hmmm.

the cobalt did have a good driver, ME!!!! Actually, i took the car to the track once, and ran a 15.1, but, it was 90 something degrees, the car had about 500 miles on it and i was still learning to drive it. I guess what was funnier than that, was the other ss/sc out at the track that night running 16's...

That's about what my stock Integra GS-R ran when it was 90 degrees out... I think like 2 tenths quicker
