Re: LS1 beat by SRT-4
I raced an SRT-4 last weekend, and spanked his *** much worse than I would have spanked a bone stock LS1. I spun all the way through 2nd gear on street tires and still ate him alive. These cars are not fast at all. The guy with the A4 LS1 was crazy to go from a roll. Dead stop next time man. For real though, they are weak.

no doubt they're fast for imports (i know they're dodge but cmon, they're basically import), not quite up to Evo/STi standards but for what they are, they're fast. If they didn't look so damn riced out I'd actually like them. Although the SRT-4 isn't as bad as the damn Evo or STi... those things are just ugly.

There was a guy that was at the track buy my house "Houston Raceway Park". He had a boost controller and a free flowing muffler on his evo and he was running 12.80S all night. I have to agree with you camaro kid they are UGLY thou.

Something about a NEON that really turns me off.
Maybe it's associated with the "beep beep, HI!" ad campaign from years ago. At least it's domestic. Someone said this in another site, and I think it best sums it up; "you can put a kajillion HP in a NEON, and I still wouldn't want to drive one."

Re: LS1 beat by SRT-4
The guy that devoloped the SRT power plant at Dodge was quoted in Road and Track Magazine last year saying "the motor is equal to a grenade with the pin pulled".
Another columinist has reported that the Dodge Neon SRT, will be compared to the 1981 Turbo Trans Am, a very rare bird, mainly because they all blew thier motors up within 2 years.
A local guy bought one, and he told me that he was warned that the warranty would be voided out if he so much as replaced a bolt on the drivetrain.
Neon SRT....Yawn. More rice.

Sux to get killed by any FWD vehicle.
I finally saw a SRT on the road a few days ago, it's too small for me but I like the bumper/grill. I dislike the rear spoiler.

Man those cars are ugly. And they really aren't that fast.
I saw two Neon SRT's at the track last night. The faster one was running 13.4's @ 101mph all night. It had dealer plates on it so you know it was a salesman out there beating on it.

Wish one of them would pick on me. I get ignored by the fast cars and picked on by Honda's. I feel like Rodney Dangerfield - no respect.

No one's going to pick on you Texas Shadow because it looks as if it would be a waste of time. Who rolls up on a 1977 Datsun and wants to race? Nobody. That's why you have to initiate things. Do you have any track times in that thing?

Re: LS1 beat by SRT-4
august hot rod featured the neon,, said it was capable of 14.2 at 100 in perfect conditions, and top speed of 148,, so pass them at 150 plus if nothing else!!!!

Re: LS1 beat by SRT-4
I highly doubt Dodge built a motor to grenade. I also do not think the dealer would offer a package for performance if the motor was not able to withstand the extra hp. If that where the case, people wouldn't have run 9's already with the stock crank and block. I have heard on other forums, that there is one out right now that ran high 12's with a stage one package.
