Wassup guys, i was @ walmart the other nite and this dude 3 years older than me came up to me and ask if i wanted to run wit him. he has a nissan 240 wit a sr20< "wat ever the **** that is" his probly thinkin i still have my iroc-z28, so i told him hey man if u wanna race me go to the tracks this weekend. so he said all right. i didnt want to street race him cause here in maui hawaii there isnt much road to race. he doesnt noe i have my 2002 z m6 and jus got my jet hot's and true dual set up on. my 1/4 mile times are below. so i was wondering if any of y'all know wat an sr20 is and is he gonna spank? i dont wanna make an *** of myself...

it depends on what he has done to it..and also what color top the sr20 has. unless he has it blown out of its mind you should take it..
so show his A$$ up at the track!

SR20 is a nissan engine that is used in the silvia.
generally some 240's run it . They can usually get around 400-480rwhp on stock internals with some boost. Its not a ricer engine if thats what your thinking. Those SR20's are good and arent too slow .

i would guess if he is around 440+rwhp he would run something like a 12.3-6 at like 120 MPH

I have a freind that has this engine in a 240... the engine is made to hold upto 500hp from the factory. He is running 20lbs of boost... was running it he poped #2 cylinder. He was putting out around 400 - 410RWHP.

The sr20 motor is not a factory turbo motor! The sr20det does have a turbo. just trying to clarify. Either way, unless he has massive amounts of work done to the motor (over $20k) there's no way in hell he should stand a chance

That right there will get you an 11-12 sec car for less than 8,000. Thats not even close to 20,000. Or he can do the basic turbo upgrade for 800 dollars and do a bpu, which is good for low 12's sec setup.

whoever said 800 will totally bpu one of these cars is full of ****. You quote a turbo kit at 4000? that's a crock. I've worked on these cars more than you can imagine, and you might spend that much on just a turbo, you still have to dish out another 3-4 grand on parts like a new innercooler, turbo piping, new intake manifold, custom work, and since this car was a non turbo model, a sr20det front clip(1000 + on it's own). Also, you say an exhaust will only caust 800, that may be right for a descent catback, but you're forgetting headers, a downpipe, gaskets ect. And a 400 dollar clutch, you gotta be shittin me. Before you go being a dumbass and trying to flame someone who knows what the hell he's talking about, do some damn research.

You could also use the KA motor instead of the s13-s15. In my opinion it is a better built motor. Iron block, bigger displacement.

Like I said for under 10,000 you can have an 11sec silvia/240.

i have a friend with a sr20 imported from japan factory turbo'ed he had a boost controller and some other goodies and he was about 2-3 cars behind my GT at about 90 so im guessing youll smoke his azzz

And for someone who says they work on 240's, then you should know the clips go for $2000+ not 1000(u think).

first of all, you're talkin about using a turbo kit that would put the sr20 motor upto snuff with the sr20det motor, i'm talking about upgrading the turbo where it would walk a ls1 with basic mods. Also, in regards to the clutch, i'm refering to a clutch that would hold 700-900 hp, not a simple stage 1. And what type of front clip are you talking about, i'm refering to a sr20det front clip from a turbo 240, NOT a sylvia front clip, if that were the case i'd agree with you. Simply said, i've owned a 300zx in the past, and i've got 2 friends with 240's which i've worked on. I'm very firmiliar with nissan's product, and what it takes to make em run fast, so don't play this game with me. You've already contridicted yourself twice. First, in your original post, you said you could do everything for under 8g's, then you did some research, and found all the pos parts you could to put the car to STOCK sr20det specs! Not specs of a car that will run 11's, and then changed your figure to 10g's. You also stated that this car (a stock st20det) will run 11's when in a previous post, you stated it would only run 13's. If you've got anything else to say take your ricer *** and line it up with me and my 61 vette and see what happens.
