Default Mach 1 for me to poop on

So, I'm driving down the street a few nights ago.. Next thing I know, I see this blue mustang pullin up next to me. Didn't see any GT badges or anything, looked and sounded like a V6.(What mustang doesn't sound like a v6 compared to my headers/ORY/cutout).. The dude proceeded to race me like 4 times, and I stomped him.. It was so slow, I was sure it was a V6. Pulled ahead of me enough at a stop light that I could see on the back of the car that it was a Mach 1. 03 or so I believe. I know they have 305 horse, and 1/4 similar to a stock LS1, but.. man, this car was slow and sounded like crap.

did it have the shaker hood, and black stripe down the side?

I see cars all the time that are not what they really are.

Guy around here has SS badges on his v6 car.

i think this is kindaa B/S...not to say its not b/c i have had some experiences. So to please clerify this situation, inform us of the races...like from what roll, or dig, how many lengths in each gear. things of this nature....then the verdict will be in.

We raced from rolls, once from 40, twice from around 60 or so. Gear for gear I gained at least one car length, any by car length I mean a lincoln limo.
As far as the shaker hood and stripes go, I really wasn't paying attention..

One time I saw a mustang with an advance auto parts apc GT-R emblem stuck on the back of his car. That was cool

from 40 or 60 to... So you are saying you "killed" a Mach 1 by at least 2 limo-lengths?

The race from 40, I ran it until I didn't have any 3rd gear left..
The races from 60 I took to I'd say 125 or so..
Maybe not 2 limo lengths, but at least one and a half.

I quit making up race stories when I sold my turbo supra.

If it was stock, i don't see this being all that much of a BS story... OP has 360 to the wheels, so he's got a good 100hp crank hp on the Mach1...

good kill!

Yeah, I heard them GT-R badges are good for about 30 wheel horse. When I bought my car, I had to flip a coin as to whether I would get the badge or a set of headers..

Ok, Ok. I'm not calling B.S. that you killed a stock Mach 1. 275ish/300ish stock M1 is not going to stay with you from those rolls but I would have thought a stock M1 would have held you to no more than one limo-length up to 130.

Maybe it was a V6 if it sounded like one. One thing MOST folks agree on is that a mustang sounds pretty good even with stock exhaust.

Good kill.

Since I'm already talking about mustangs, here is another curiosity I never quite understood.
There is this douchebag kid from my hometown, with a 5.0 mustang GT, always talking about how he has the fastest car in the city.. I know he had exhaust, and like a 75hp shot of n02. He scrapped the n02 for a supercharger, and on several occasions I found him and we ran, and.. I swear on gods green earth his car was slower than the mach 1...
He always claimed that his car wasn't tuned right, and ever time we ran he would say "I gotta go home and plug it into my laptop"
I know a bad tune can make a big difference, but.. that bad?

Not enough details. Depends on year, etc. I think he was very much a bullshitter if he had a "5.0" that he tuned himself with a laptop... You are probably right about it being slower than an 03/04 Mach.

I would say it was a 93 or so, not the old boxy body style..
I'm pretty sure he wasn't bullshittin about the laptop tuning, he did have a wideband with an afr meter and there isn't anywhere near my city where he could have gotten a dyno tune, I had to drive 200 miles..
