Default 98 t/a VS SRT-10 truck

so im on my way back from picking up some goodies for the car with my girlfriend.. she has to be at work in 10 mins.. so im doing about 10 over..
im traveling on a four lane loong stretch and about 50 yards up i see a srt10 pull out. ive always wanted to race one of these just to see if they are as fast as everyone in my town thinks they are.. so i speed up just a little bit, well i suppose he also wanted to see what i had.. as i get about half a car from him he nails it at about 55-60.. so i followed his lead and i kicked it.. by the time i hit 100 i had put about 3 on him and by the time i hit 120-125 i had about 6-7 and was still pulling.. i hit the brakes and about 5 seconds later he came flying past still in WOT.. and then when we got back into town (heavy traffic) was still chirping the tires and stuff... when i took my turn he did honk and give me a wave...

all in all i was not impressed what so ever.. it is what i expected... but i had heard that they were more potent.. not just from a dig.. but from a roll also.. from what happened.. going from a dig wouldnt have helped him much.. i pulled about 8 lengths on him from 55-125.. and was still pulling..

Anybody else run one of these??? i had a H/C friend pretty much call BS on me.. but owell.. sorry no video.. would have but he took off before i had my phone out..

yea thats what i said too.. i came by him pretty quick (smiling).. haha..

i thought it was just my imahination to how much i beat him.. was loking in the rear view.. but asked the GF and she said it was about 6.. so yea.... from a roll.. not too much of a threat.. not at all.. i would say maybe for a 04 down gt?? in the eighth it might be a fair run???

My friend has a quad cad srt10. At around 105 they shift into 4th gear and bog down. I was walking him pretty good at those speeds. He's got intake and exhaust. The pcm he had in wasn't tuned all that great and he put the stock one back in. Course, I only have a lid, so I'm not the fastest out there.

All in all, if you run into one that has stuff done to it, it will be able to hang with you for the most part. That's a big truck to be moving so fast.

I walked one from a dig and a 35mph roll in my old 98 TA M6. My car was stock other than an airlid and a hurst shifter. The SRT-10 was a stock 6spd. Four cars from a dig and two-three cars from a roll.

About what I expected before we raced. Guy was really cool too.

I've run a few of them and they are not that quick. I would put them on par with a newer 350Z or mustang GT.

Good kill dude

a good friend of mine had a single cab black one with full bolt-on. headers/intake/ other bs and custom tuning. he made just over 500rwhp and when my GT made 315ishrwhp we raced and were dead even till 100 then i pulled half a car on him. we went to the track and he ran a 13.5 @108 spinnin some. pretty respectable time for a bolt-on truck. to bad it gets like 4mpg lol

I drove a stock single cab 6spd one and wasn't that impressed. Too damn big. It's like getting fake **** on an obese woman. Chances are you aren't gonna notice much.

No joke on the spinning. I couldn't hook at all. And those tires aren't cheap either.

Good kill OP

I ran one when I was stock and lost. We were real close through 1st and 2nd but I kept missing 3rd (only had the car a couple days) so I lost. Those trucks ain't no slouch. I'm sure they slow down as the speed increases we were doing pretty short runs but for a 5k lb. truck I was impressed.

^ I don't think so. The SRT is 5.2 / 13.2
I don't think the F-body were rated any better.

Hm, 4.9/13.6 is what I'm reading. In any case, you are right and they appear a little quicker by rating..

I forgot to mention I wasn't impressed mostly because of the price. It was fast but not THAT fast. And I don't care how good of a driver you are speed shifting it ain't exactly a cake walk either.

Almost certain 80 or 90 plus stock for stock a ls1 fbody would walk it (especially m6s). Close to even from a slow roll to low top (<100mph) speeds. Dead stop ls1 fbody would walk it. 4dr autos are slower.

I really can't see getting the advertised performance out of them for some reason. Maybe something was wrong with the one I drove? It was at the time a new 05.

I raced a Dodge SRT 10 truck once when I had my Z06. I beat him but not by a lot. He was not stock...but he was the best fight I had the entire time I had the Z.

I played around with one not long after my blower went in. I didn't use very much of my go pedal to keep up with him. 500hp but only pulling mid 13's isn't impressive IMO..........truck or not. If they'd stuck that motor in a Dakota......that would have been a bit more nasty.

Thing I can't figure out is that Dodge was willing to put the Viper motor into a gargantuan truck.......but they won't put it into the upcoming Challenger?

Nice kill. It's a truck. I can't imagine buying something that weighs that much for a performance vehicle unless I am regularly using it to haul stuff and can't afford a fun car. But that's just me.

from what happened.. fourth gear didnt have anything to do with it... we were doing about 50 or so when he hit it.. and by about 85 or 90 i had alreayd put about a length in a half..
