Default GT stuck with me :o

So a few of us were hangin out this weekend when a new guy comes up being loud in a GT. My car is a 98 auto ls1 with ONLY a maganaflow catback, not even a lid. I go over and talk to him, and check out his car. His car is an 02 GT 5spd, he had longtubes, O/R X pipe, some spiral flow mufflers, intake, throttle body and 4.10s. We line them up and stayed dead even from a low roll and a higher roll. It was a pretty good match up. He was real cool guy.

Good runs . Like a few of the guys (like myself) have been saying, a full bolt-on/geared GT is not something to take *too* lightly. Still not fast, but quick enough to compete

A full bolt on/geared stang keeps up with a stock LS1? That's nothing to be proud of i'm afraid...

They do start with an 80rwhp deficit. Stating that car is only putting down ~ 250-260 ..I'd say that's not too bad. Still has ~50 RWHP less. I can't imagine the gears are necessary, but if he only kept up....apparently they were needed for this race.

Nice run.

if he was smart he would have wanted a dig race. and in my opinion he would have won. the set up on that gt well driven with a good tune has the potential to run 12's.

Good Race, if u were an m6 this would have been a completely different race....from my experience in racing m6/a4 ls1s 3 of each all with similar mods....the m6 is anywhere from 1-2 cars faster from a roll

Seeing as how the GT wasn't ever meant to be "the Mustang to beat" I'd say it did pretty good. IMO the GT is your teenage girl's Mustang that the parents don't want to get her a fast car to get in trouble with. Or its your Mustang that Dan at age 45 wants that just has that V8 Mustang sound but he doesn't care about performance. Now if you wanna talk performance get you ahold of a Mach 1 or Cobra. It would have been a completely different race if the Mustang had been either.

And I'd rather have that badass-sounding 5spd 4.10-geared GT than a stock A4 Camaro . Now if it was a 6spd SS with full exhaust, it would be a bit different.
