Well if thats the case that he was a cop I'm moving. Shoot you said you just kept driveing and he stopped. That would be nice. Your speeding and a cop tries to pull you over your just like no I don't feel like pulling over today then he just gives up. Haha nice!

OP, your story is rediculous. That dude had to be a fake. What a tool to pose as a cop.

actually my friend just got pulled over a week or two ago for racing a UC in a honda. he had a turbo civic and kept doin fly bys then slowing down and fly by again, so my buddy on the 4th or 5th time just got on it and put 2-3 cars on him and shut down only to be pulled over by him and with in minutes he said 4-5 marked cars showed up and the honda went back on his way. CT is being very serious about street racing these days, ive seen trail blazers, hondas, 3rd gens, and chargers along with their normal cruisers. you just cant be sure who you are pullin up on these days

Or is entrapment legal in New England?

Cops are pushing the limits of "traffic enforcement" well beyond protect and serve these days, almost all the new cop cars I've seen are unmarked or have clear light bars, as well as full tints. Now any tint on front or side windows is illegal in NJ, but apparently cops are above the law. Interesting reoccurring pattern.
What happened to police presence (marked cruisers) being enough to deter bad driving?? Oh thats right, it makes people feel safer and drive safer, doesn't make enough money, so they need to go "under cover" to rape motorists for all that we are worth.
Of course we all know "speed enforcement" isn't about safety anyway, its about making money. Interesting how on most major highways, you can travel 75MPH in a 65MPH zone without the cops even flinching. But go a mere 5MPH faster, and now you're going to get a ticket for 15MPH over the limit, instead of the 5MPH you are traveling above the flow of traffic speed.
I think its just going to get worse and worse, to the point where any type of unmarked vehicle will be used for traffic enforcement. It needs to stop, because it jeopardizes the safety of everyone, and you never know if the person with the strobe in the windshield is actually a cop.
