Evo vs TA (long story w/ video)
Its kinda a long story so cliff notes and video are at the bottom.
Story:
So after being really excited about getting my new TA i was cruising around da burg (Fredericksburg, VA) w/ my younger brother (who weighs 250 lbs!) in the car. looking for a race. To be honest this is the main reason i bought a TA. So we're driving and he spots a WRX pulling into a walmart. i try to change lanes to follow and get stuck at a red light, when i finally get to parking lot we lost him, but pasted a late 90's Mustang GT, but it was some old lady. so i'm driving around the parking lot trying to find the WRX but instead i find an Lancer i guess it was an Evo 8?? (sorry don't know much about imports) i stopped next to it with a bunch of people hanging around it, so i stopped next it, and gave a little rev, everybody stopped and looked at me, i rolled my window down and they walked over, i asked what he had and he said "an Evo". i asked if it was stock, and kinda chuckled and said "no". So i pulled in to the next spot and got out we popped our hoods and started checking stuff out. his car was pretty nice it wasn't riced out at all, infact the exterior was all stock as i can remember. He told me he had: intake, exhaust, header, fuel upgrades, clutch kit, tuned, running at 22psi. At this point i pretty much knew i was toast cause i'm pretty much stock, with: A4, 3.23, lid, k&n, free ram air, tb coolant bypass, shift kit. We talked for a little while and he seemed pretty cool. plus one of the guys with him i went to HS with. Like i said i knew i was gonna lose but it was my first race i wasn't gonna turn it down, especially since i started it. So we went to a nearby place pretty common for races. we did a quick sweep for cops, (also common in the area), this place is right next to a convention center, and just our luck something was goin on and there were cops everywhere, so he tells me he knows another place close by, it was a pretty sweet place i'd never been there before, but there was still some construction going on, as seen in the video, so not quit the optimal place. We had decided to go from a dig, ( which now i see was a terrible idea), since the road wasn't that long to get a good matched roll. ( i can't wait for a rematch, i think i'd do much better from a roll) so we lined up and this guy gave us the drop. you can hear his bov going , and i barely raised my rpm to maybe 1200rpm. (i also had the heat blasting and made sure i turned traction control off). dude dropped his arms, and SQUUUEEEAAALLLLLL. whoops i think i floored it.... bad idea < is basically what happened. so with his AWD he was gone. and i never had a chance, like i said the road wasn't the greatest and there was construction vehicles and a huge bump down the road so after he got a solid lead he shut it down, with several lengths on me. we were still pretty close to the cops, and with all the tires noise i made i'm pretty sure they heard it so we just left right away.
CLIFF NOTES: me pretty much stock, spinning tires = tuned Evo w/ AWD flying past me
Comments:
In the end he was a cool guy, we're gonna hang out again his gonna introduce me to some of his friends who i can actually beat. Once i get my full exhaust, and N20, and calm down my ******* nerves (my first real street race) i want a rematch. also any thoughts on how a roll race would've gone?

Hey just work on those launch's. When I first got my auto 98 t/a, what really helped out was some lower control arms and relocation brackets. Being auto, you'll get the launch down pretty nicely soon enough, it can be a good deal easier and more consistant with the a4 once you get it down. Just play with the launch by using your brake's, it should only let you rev to around 1200 or so with the stock converter. Then as you let go of the brake's ease it down to full throttle, do that until you get the hang of it without spinning and your foot will memorize it once you've done it enough. If you really want an extra edge look into some drag radials. Also sorry if I missed this, but what year is your t/a?
Wonder what the evo means by header, I'm assuming tubular exhuast mani.

I appreciate all the advice guys. i was pretty pissed at myself, for spinning like that, but i'm definatly not used to all that power, i couldn't do that in my v6 bird if i tried. So i'm gonna:
1-practice
2-practice
3-switch the wheels from my v6 bird (255/50ZR16, fairly new summer tires)
4-install p&p'd TB
5-practice
6-install LT headers, ORY, and catback
Then we'll see whats up. we'll go from a slow roll, probably around 20-25, and of course i got to race him from a dig again. I'm fairly confident, i'll beat him at a roll, but i think he'll get me from a dig, i mean he just shot out of there! I cant wait to post up the rematch.
