No kidding. BUT Hennesey is building one that will have 1000hp. Or something like that. I had actually considered seeing if I could take my LS1 out of my Formula and putting into my Lotus Not sure it could happen without a **** load of money.

That would be one unique project....the ls1 in that car would be unbelieveable The torque the ls1 puts down might rip the car in half when u hit it from a dig

Um...there isn't a turbo on the Elise or Exige.

Doesn't one of the Lotuses have an ecotech? I might be thinking of the Ariel Atom though, now THAT is an amazing toy!

Yes, IF I ever bought one the FIRST thing to go would be the TOY lump!!
Sorry, but I don't care how strong they are, how much boost they can be built to take, etc., etc., yada, yada.

A nice fully built/boosted Ecotec, or Cossie BDT evo 2.1 would be in there before I even took it around the block!!!

Nice kill.

They are quick if driven right, they are mid engined so either bog from a launch or fly like a ****, but no where in between really.

It really is about weight. But all round handling and track performance is where they are strong, not drag racing.

A stock 190hp Exige was faster round the Top Gear test track than a 400hp C6 Z51 Corvette. Not bad considering it had less than half the HP and in American terms the Corvette is fairly light.

Said 'test track' is pretty much tighter in configuration than a small go kart track??

The old Elise's were slow, especially at higher speeds, but the newer they get, the faster they get, and the supercharged Exige can move.

The last part at top speed seemed dangerous and unnecessary and mildly psychopathic. But hey thats why we're all here!

Well you guys must have some friggin huge go-kart tracks. The Top Gear test track is big enough to hussle cars the likes of a Ferrari Enzo, Dodge Viper, Zonda and even a Formula 1 car round at speed.

I only stated that because IF it is > 1 km per lap, and the 'pilot' of the C6 could drive worth a damn, he should have killed the Loti (again, unless that track does NOT have any straightaways longer than 100 meters!!).
But then again, the stock tires REALLY DO come into play here!!

Im not sure anyone on this site has actually driven an Elise or an Exige. Its fater then you think and its takes corners faster then you think. It seems like a lot of you are arguing over what you read in a magazine. I have owned and Exige and its a beast in the turns and it would be hard for a C6 Vette to be it around a pretty curvy track. I know this is LS1 talk and everyone wants the C6 to be fast on a curvy track..but its just not so. Im talkin STOCK FOR STOCK.

I've driven a Miata on a 2 hour trip, i can only imagine how much better one of those things has to be than a stock miata....

GIVEN.

But that is why I asked if it was a go kart track, or one with < 100 yard straights, implying VERY "curvy".

But here we go again; EQUALIZE the tire compounds and see what happens!!

Oh sorry..my comment was not directed at your comment. You kinda said pretty much what I said.
The main differance in the handeling is that the Exige its so small and built for turns. It would take a lot more then tire compound to equal that for a C6. Sure the C6 is going to kill it in the straghts. Im with you though..I went from Z06 to Exige..BACK to Z06. Overall the Z06 is WAY more fun. Unless you are taking an Exige to the track its a waist. It will get owned in a street race..and if you drive it in the turns like it was meant to be..then you run the risk of going around a turn and seeing a cop. You really can not enjoy it on the streets like you can a Corvette.

IF the autocross, or go kart track-like road course were tight enough, AGREED!
More 'open' and the Vette with sticky rubber will obliterate the flower.

more open and the Vette would not need sticky tires. Just a good driver.
