ALRIGHT BEEN THERE DONE THAT AND GOT THE T-SHIRT, IT DIDNT LIVE UP TO EXPECTATIONS CREATED BY THIS THREAD - Amidst all the wondering what these things really got i went out and test drove a black 2006 SRT-8 Charger identical (-color) to what i raced, after work today. It had 15,900 miles and they wanted $30k for it bone stock with nav. I BS'd em long enough for a test drive. Never took off from a dead stop but punched it twice from a roll and was left with mixed feelings. Immideately i noticed that it had no more - maybe even less, kick you in the *** style get up and go than my cars. I also had to remind myself how heavy that car really is. Had a lot of torque - felt similar to my flatbed 05' F250 6.0 Turbo Diesel work truck. It would plant you in the seat impressively and feel quick (475ftlbs tq) but you knew it wasnt way fast. Id say more realisticly it was better compared to the LS1 GTO i test drove several weeks ago. Also dead stock it too was quick but didnt leave me with the **** eatin grin i get when i hammer the ole f-bods. The most noticeable difference was the rediculously smooth ride of the SRT and the GTO. GTO had great view with that short nose but the SRT was similar to both the TA and camaro with its long *** front end. Both cars shifted radically smoother than my TA's 4L60E (even though i think the auto GTO had the same). And i think the GTO seats were more comfortable than the cloth seats that adorned the SRT i drove. Even with all the plastic of the GTO interior i prefer it to the SRT. Looked like the Charger came with Brembos factory spec - impressive. All in all im back to the way i felt about the charger before - Its a badass car with a badass motor - but keep in mind its a tank so it just didnt give me that whiplash when i put my right foot down, my friend that was with me for the race and the test drive concurred. Once again i think low 14's are the real number for stock SRT-8 Chargers at the local altitude. And theres no way one STOCK like i drove would have beat either of my cars in current trim. As for when they were stock i cant say - its been too long since then. Maybe a 6.1 with headers and cold air would gain that punch i missed but i wasnt going to trade both my rides and still spend 15k on a loan to find out. Maybe if i ever knock some chic up and need a back seat...
P.S. I also have to note that after the first time i stepped on it a little yellow light in the shape of an engine came on in the lower left side of the Chargers gauge cluster (check engine?). I however, neglected to mention it to the dealer since there was still one good strightaway left. GOOD TIMES FOR AN OTHERWISE HOT BORING SAT AFTERNOON:.

You can't forget the Charger weighs in over 4k with a driver, plus the IRS it doesn't feel like you're going as fast as you are. I noticed a huge difference in SOTP feel when I dropped the IRS and went with a solid rear in the Cobra

Well I got quite a bit more done than just the IRS swap and haven't been to the track since I got the car back from the shop but hope to get my fuel problems done sometime this week. AF is way off and sputtering/almost dying down low. Probably the injectors

You realize how much more expensive it is to mod the C6? I've spent a little under 3500 and the car is capable of mid-low 11's at 125+mph with a good driver. There is no way I'm spending that little to go that quick in the C6.

Although not the worst idea - nothig beats telling a hot chic that asks about your car - "yea that ones mine, ...and yes ma'am that one is mine too. Would you just like to have sex now or after you ride in the one you like better?" lol J/K I WISH IT REALLY HAPPENED THAT WAY!!
