Sting of defeat - Loss to SRT8
Rolling home from dinner in the M6 SS and see a bright blue SRT8 pulling into the lane next to me and hes mashing on it. We throw some revs and end up with clear road ahead and this is where i get confused. I leave my **** at like 3500 in 2nd for almost 4 blocks and he wont pull up next to me - he just hangs at my rear quarter. The SRT suddenly takes off and im left chasing and of course he had enough momentum that i didnt catch up. Second race was from a stoplight and i had the ASR turned off. Spun initially and featherd it to hook up he instantly pulled a car and continued for another until we got out of it. Next race was from another dead stop again same result. Next race was another dead stop - afraid of spinning again i left with way too few RPMs and bogged to an even worse demise. Last race we go from a roll and once again this cocky bastard stays at my rear quarter panel like he wants me to jump and see if he can reel me in, so thats what i did and this time he stayed the same exact distance behind from 45 or so all the way to 135. My conclusion is that we had equal cars but - im sure the kid had an auto - i had to drive my car and couldnt step up to the occasion. Why i couldent get a side by side roll race i dont know im sure it would have been within half a car either way if i had but oh well. I LOST. However i know where the guy lives and who he hang with so im definately setting up an auto vs auto race with the T/A. I think itll do me more justice froma dead stop. Hell probably reel my at 90-100 but i think itll be closer. I think i was shifting at like 5800 - near the end it started to look as though oil pressure was low (like 25 or so) so im thinking a pump replacement is probably in order pretty soon. After i calmed down on it the gauge came back to 40 but never higher. Should be at like 50-60 during medium acceleration shouldent it? Oil level is fine BTW. Anyway i was impressed with the charger although im sure hes gonna try to tell me its stock and i aint gonna believe it. I know thyre quick but not low 13's stock. Hes gotta have a chip/cold air something.

Good effort.
The SRT8s are pretty nasty from a dig with even a poor driver.
I used to get that crap where people won't go from an even roll. Roll racing is lame as it is, but those kids just make it even worse.

There's quite a bit of tuning and mods now available for the 6.1L hemis. It's not a disgrace to lose to one...the motors are pretty badass.

No shame. Before I sold my bolt on 02 SS I raced my wife driving our 300C SRT8 and the 300 would gradually walk away from any speed, nothing crazy but a consistant walk. From a dig, it was slightly worse, our 300 hooks well with TC on and still goes like hell. Great cars and yes they usually run low 13's @ 107-109 and some even have been high 12's @110-111 just depending on the weather, track condiotions and some smart guys resetting the TM system. Very fun cars!

Bonestock my 300C SRT8 has ran 13.1@108MPH.. So they are capable cars for sure.
You should have been pretty much dead even. I have seen bone stock SRT8 300's get 12.9's.
But you will get another chance at him again I am sure. No shame in that loss at all.
Here is me going 13.3 Bonestock.. with a .2887 Reaction time.. So there is plenty of room to improve.

Sorry, i cant believe that i didnt mention that it was a charger.
I never seen an SRT8 anything (truly stock) run better than a 14.0 - AT OUR LOCAL TRACK - Now im not about to deny what they can do at a good track on a good day with a decent driver but i was hoping to make it closer. Thats why the shock.

Im glad someone recognizes the required sacrafice. For the sake of my dignity ill leave out the endless list of other wants and unfortunately sometimes needs that are left in the rearview of one of my two sportscars - but you can do that when you are single and relatively young (24). **** still just always seems to get in the way ya know. Ticket here taxes there - my f**kin property taxes just went up $600 this year. Flood insurance went up another 20 bucks a month, gas is killer and on and on and on. Oh and its been 100+ the last couple of weeks and im sure my elect bill will be outrageous this month, bye bye stall converter.
