Well its a city of like 5 or 6 cops very very small. I doubt he wouldnt show. Im probably a huge bust for them.

But yes im positive there were no cars around. It was night time and headlights were no where in sight. Only a few cars at the intersection a ways down the road when we were turning.
The cop who wrote the ticket also wont be in court.
Then plead innocent. If he isnt there to dispute your claim then they have no witness. There for they have only your word to take and no one elses. But if he was going to show up for court, then get a lawyer.

Went to court yesterday. They reduced it to 50 in a 35mph and 2 points with a $310 fine. I got lucky as all hell that my buddy, who i raced and was there with me, decided to join the navy in the mean time cus thats the only reason they reduced it so he could actually enlist.

you said he didnt clock your speed and got all your plate but one # plus it was dark so he really does not know the color of your car or make for that matter. there are a few things on your side. plus you said he wouldnt be in court if he doesnt show he cant tell the court that you were the one speeding cause there wouldnt be anybody to say you did it. all i know is that in Texas if the cop doesnt show then you get no charge.

Ok I've read enough I was stupid enough to do the same thing in FL it's a 1st degree misdemeanor. This was my 1st time has well I did hire a lawyer for the cost of 1000$ and he got me off with nothing but school and a 315$ fine THANK GOD! He cut a deal with the DA I was so relieved so now I have to do is complete school and pay the fine. But hey everyone make mistakes and we learn from those mistakes.

Its a 1st degree misdemeanor here too. But if you guys read a few posts up, i said i already went to court for this now, got reduced to a speeding ticket for 50 in a 35, 2 points and a $310 fine. All without a lawyer, we just went.

Thats why he needs a lawyer. here is the rub, you get what you pay for. Hire a $500 flat fee lawyer and you'll only get $500 worth of service. Hire a well respected lawyer at 150-300 an hour and you'll get every dime of it back via reduced/removed fines, license points, no jail time, keeping the car etc.
very very true. i got a flat fee lawyer, didnt make out of my wreckless driving...in which the cop "Paced" my speed, didnt even radar me. got for 80 in a 55.

my buddy got out of a dui that he blew .093, needless to say he got a lawyer, cost him 3 grand...but dui's get in the 5k +.

edit. you made off lucky!! haha good job! funny....i joined the navy two years ago, and that kind of thing happened to me. i was slated to join the navy in a month...and the court dropped my charges of criminal michief, vandalism, etc etc. all class a felonys down to a mistameter with deffered adjudication...aka nothing on my record. (yes i was a bad kid) needless to say the military always helps...and it actually straightneed me out so their trust wasnt misplaced!

$1,315 + school, hiring the lawyer, driving to court multiple times, missed work etc... for street racing? In the "old days" (like when a lot of these cops were young) it was a good tongue lashing or a simple speeding ticket.

See soccer moms and senior citizens, all those calls to your local representative over the years has made this world a better place.
