Ok tool. Lets me expand on that bit. My first pass in my car with 1100 miles on it was a 12.7@110. That was launching at idle and maw-maw shifting. Now, lets fast forward to my third trip to the track with a total of about 9 passes on the car. I netted a 12.3. Now on my 5th trip to the track on radials, maybe a total of less than 20 passes on the car, and about 1300-1400 miles on the car I netted a 11.933. The car was absolutely 100% bone stock down to the original paper airfilter, stock tires, you name it. I got kicked out after my second pass, had I not been, I feel I would have most likely run down in the low 11.90's possibly an 11.89. Fast forward again into the summer. I have a bit more seat time in the car, and I have now dropped my 60' times from 1.8's on the F1s to mid 1.7s. Even in 98 degree weather I have run 12.0s in the car. Had I decide to wait until this winter to make some more brutal passes on the car, I think I would have been in the mid 11.8, maybe even a 11.79. AS it is, its too hard on the clutch since it requires a lot of clutch slip. ET Strets make it easier on the clutch and more consistent on the times. The free 15HP from the airfilter mod is just a bonus.

Again, for the record. My buddy brought his '03 Z06 to HRP. On his first trip to the track in the car, he ran a 12.08 @ 118. The car is completley stock

On other thing look at the test criteria for the mags. They don't test at a dragstrip. They don't launch hard, they don't powershift,they don't do a burnout, and they run the cars full of fuel. For the record, look at the test in GMHTP of the 2001 Z06. For some reason GMHTP ran a 12.2 in a 2001 which only has 385HP vs 405 for the Z06. Wonder why that is.

Think also on the fact that Crager's car won by 2 lengths (again, good kill Crager). So, would you say that Crager's car only runs a best of a 12.8 since the Z06 is only a 13.0 ride. Yeah, sure, a H/C with 4.10's only runs 12.8s....

 

Good post J-Rod. It's very clear what Z06's run. They are badass no doubt about it. It's damn impressive for Crager to drop a few car lengths on one too. Those stage II heads and the T1 cam must provide a fun ride.

Lots of newbies here who think they know it all. It's unfortunate, but there are still tons of guys here who know their stuff.

 

Indeed. Z06's are sick cars, there's no doubt about it. THeir cheap for their performance, and they generally run low 12s stock. Not one bad thing you can say about them.

I do believe from a dig Cragar would have put more than two on a Z06. I could be wrong, but I think racing a Z06 from a roll is a disadvantage for a f-body.
Besides if you are looking at quarter mile times, I know the difference between Cragars car and a Z06 is more than two car lengths in the quarter.

OK,after posts by Z06 owners and obviously pro drivers like J-Rod (Who I thank in his objective and educating responses), I have but no option to believe. Perhaps the fact that I haven't got my *** whipped by one yet, (and yes reading magazines), I was a bit sceptical.
As for UNIT213 and TITANIUM BARCHETTA (Stang Mutant Owners), you guys can still kiss my ***. and I don't take back a thing I said about u (Overgrown Bullit) :p
