Not in the case of a GT500. They are even slower than GTO's if you can believe that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He did have the top down...and I dont want to sound mean but he wasnt a small dude...id guess he was pushin 270ish, and had a passenger.

I had the weight advantage for sure, but he had the hp advantage.

It was a really good race. Its not too often I get a race that is so close. Most cars wanting to run me are stock GTs and some modded GTs but none have been even close.

that makes perfect sense then.

this is why i don't race with the top down (unless the bottle is open).

Hey, man...A kill is a kill, good run and congrats!
When you race, be it street or track, you race the car AND the driver, so al the talk about what it "should've done" is moot...if that were the case, we'd all just "paper" race with dyno sheets and magazine reports and never actually drive the cars or just park the cars and pit ourselves against one another in a foot race.

geezus....I haven't seen that...my only question is this, do they do the 1/4 mile on a paved strip or a real, prepped track? With the torque and lack of traction, that 13.4 may be explained. If that's with a good driver and prepped track,

Its C&D....good driver?
They do most of their "1/4 mile testing" on a road course with a huge up-hill slope or on a street with a Gtech.

we have several of these in our club and they are horribly de-tuned stock
the coups and heavy at 3890 Verts are 4000 lbs but with just an intake and tune this brick will move... check out http://www.evoperform.com/shop/

Over all I am not impressed with them, I have beat every stock GT500 I have raced and I still spent under 30K, good driver or not they are boats. the iron block was a huge mistake.

I agree he should have, but like was said before, he either didnt know how to drive or was being carefull with his new car that wasnt broken in, in which case I dont blame him.

And I have a friend with open exhaust and a k&n on his 07 GT, he cant keep up at all. I keep telling him to put some DRs on it and thats his next step. Also have a guy I want to race with an 05 GT with all the bolt ons i think with the except gears. Throttle body, intake, either short or mid headers, x pipe yadayadayada and he has DRs.Id like to see how close it is.

Thanks man...a win is a win. By the time he either learns how to drive or doesnt mind revving it up my H/C/I will be done and I dont think he will have a chance unless he starts modding quick.

Thats a sweet vette you have, If I can ever bring myself to sell my WS6 the next car will be a black C6!

full bolt-on should put him in the 12.9-13.3 region so it will prob make for a good race for ya.

Full bolt ons only going 12.9-13.3?
There's many full bolt-on S197's going mid-low 12's.

What more proof does one need that Mustangs are turds.Shiney ones I grant it.........but, a polished turd is still a turd.

GTO's are slow

I am not even a full bolt on yet and I am running 12.41 @ 109.35 on DR and 12.7 on Street tires.
I still need to do a stall and suspension and maybe then get into some weight reduction items like K-Member, Radiator support delete, rear seat delete, battery relo, weld drag lites wheels, carbon fiber racing seat Ect..
but I think thats over kill, ya I still want to drive the car daily so weight reduction is out.
