it was me (my car is in my sig.) vs. a 97 ws6 A4 with the lt4 hot cam kit and bbk shorties and borla exhaust.

we get to a stretch of road and we both give the tires a quick spin ( we turned around on a gravel road ). and his gf gives us the 3-2-1-Go!! i havent raced with a 6 speed very much. but i think i did pretty good. i dumped it at around 2000. and we were both spinning all the way through 1st pretty even. then i hit second and it was game over. i hit second and spun a little. but still pulling on him. and around 110 i had 3-4 lengths on him and i hit the brakes. i was pretty happy with how it turned out.

i figured it woulda been alot closer than that but idk.

good kill, thats about what i would expect you to beat him buy. mainly stock lt cannot compare to ls1's with what you have even with a hot cam.

Good kill! A moderate bolt-on/hotcam LT1 with an auto will probably make around 320 rwhp. Sounds like a fun race!

thats what i dont get. if he is putting down 320 ish rwhp. and im only at 341. how could i have killed him that bad???

thanks, i had a 94 z28 for a long time. this is my first ls1 and i am loving every minute of it!!

next on the list is a 6.0 gto runnin around town

the cam maybe, but the shorties vs longs are not going to make up much on the race.

They do make a difference in higher RPM's for sure. That's why I swapped my shorties for LT's. Haven't dynoed it yet, but there is definitely a noticable difference.

Because those are just peak numbers, not average numbers. The LS1 has a much better power curve and doesn't run out of breath nearly as fast as an LT1. The peak numbers may be similar, but your powerband is bigger than his. You pull harder, longer.
It's about a 15-20rwhp difference on a cammed car for sure. That equates to about 2 car lengths. When you only win by 3 car lengths, 2 is a pretty big difference.
