Well, they are supposed to take off markings and stuff like that, but even with the police insignias and stuff gone, they aren't obligated to take off all the outside cop "gear"
I think the cops knew this, and don't give a **** because it makes people like us think twice about speeding :/

yep, I've slowed down next to highway on ramps because of de-com cars I don't know how many times. Also watch out over here in the west valley, they have quite a few undercover crown vics with civilian plates as well as a tan tahoe that I see running around all over. And if you're in glendale or near the Westgate/Stadium, NEVER and I mean NEVER race a black C5 or a white fox mustang, I've seen them about 5 times now going up and down the West side 101.

If you are intreseted is seeing the plane if you get pulled over like that the officer always gets a good laugh when he radios the plane to come down out of the sky. The look on your face will be priceless plus the ticket. Been there and done that.Learned tho that is the key

On Oahu if you make it go there or live there:
Virtually any type of car/SUV you can pretty much think of can possibly be a cop car
Nice thing is to watch out for the blue cruise lights bulb or led and tinted windows.
Either way very sneaky
Plus ur normal marked cop cars

AL: Wow...
1. Crown Vics (of course) - Marked/Unmarked
2. Chargers - Black and always hard to spot
3. BMW R1100 bikes - Yeah those are really easy to see
4. Late-model Impalas - Deputy Sheriffs drive them
5. Tahoes - Black or silver and always unmarked
6. G35 sedans - Silver/Black. I nearly pissed my pants when I saw one.
7. Dodge Stratus - Of all things. I think I'd just speed up a little.

We have 08 Mustang GTs here with blacked out windows and all the lights on the inside so you can't tell. Harleys, I have seen an escort and a focus before, and the vics for state.

For the Ohio boys:
As stated before the patol cars in Ohio are run-of-the-mill crown vics but other forms of transportation are also utilized.
The highway patrol maintains a nice little fleet of prop planes to catch speeders. US 70 is one the most watched stretches of highway by these planes. If they see that one or more vehicles seems to be speeding they will calcualte your speed with stop watches as you pass the white markers on the sides of the road. Each white marker represents a 1/4 mile and they usually watch you for a mile before radioing down to a ground unit. I think 71 might sometimes be patrolled by the air also.

Like people are saying, they could have almost any vehicle anymore. For this reason (and gas prices), I've decided to save my speeding for the drag strip. I can no longer afford to help pay their salaries.

Good thing I don't go into the West Valley that often... although when I do, I will definitely remember that

I live in the Orlando area and I'm a Service Manager at a Dodge Dealer. Orange county has just about every dodge vehicle in their fleet as patrol cars; less Viper. They do have a few Chargers and one Magnum (Silver). It seriously looks like a SE 2.7L version but I can assure you it has a HEMI.
On 417 in the Oviedo Winter Park area the cops use a little plane also. This one is a Cessenna I suppose and it is visible only about 700 ft. Fortunatly I noticed it going to work one day with the t-tops off and slowed down. This tactic is usually used once every two or three weeks. There used to be a rumor of a silver 06ish GT stang running the same stretch of road. I can tell you that that rumor is true, he even tried to engage a race and I just pointed to his car and then to my head(like I know who you are) and then shaked my finger like no-no. He slammed on the brakes got right behind me and then pulled over to the shoulder. Bastard!!!!

Most of the patrol cars here are marked, the Troopers mostly run Crown Vics both marked and unmarked, Excursions, and Expeditions. Some of the county Mounties have Dodge Chargers, Durangos, and even Dakotas. There are rumors of some of the cops around Charleston are running Mustangs siezed from drug busts though.

Can we make this a sticky by state.
Here in Southern California...
-Most drive crown vics. specially chp's
- most city cops are going with expeditions, and explorers theres a new charger
- the color scheme is blk and white for all city cops.
-there's alot of chp's that drive white crown vic without the upper siren lights.(i got pulled over by one doing 120+mph)
-there's alocal hwy were alot guys race, I got siren-ed by a cop in a carvan that was green. i did a pass with a stang and they pulled next to us. he didnt pull us over because there was 20 other imports racing too.

In Georgia, around 400. They'll sit on on-ramps radaring your *** as you go by. They hide behind bridges, or at the bottom of hills. They LOVE to camp right where the speed limit changes from 65 to 55, or construction zones, because they'll ticket people even if they're in the process of slowing down.
Radar detectors aren't useful in most of GA, cops use laser guns. Look into something like the Laser Interceptor instead. That said, my V1 has still saved my *** more than once.
Oh, and on 285 around atlanta, there's an undercover white Buick Lucerne, got me racing a 'Stang GT once and let me go after complimenting my car.

Okay. This thread isn't about an awesome kill, or a horrible let down. This isn't about how our beautiful American Muscle trashed on some piece of **** import. No. This is about how to spot the folks who, while protecting us on occasion, also enjoy hampering our fun. So, I propose this be stickied, and we list, by state, how we individually spot cops. Or just in general. I'll start off with how I spot them in Missouri -
Headlights! All Crown Vic lights are the same, but here in MO, they have clear turn signals. They also run with their brights on. Aways. Secondly, black wheels with silver center caps. ALL the police vehicles around here run with those. Third: Obviously, the colors. These varry by state. Here in MO, it tends to run Black front quater panels\hood, white doors\roof, and then black trunk\quarter panels, with white and reflective silver lettering.
Another thing to look for in Missouri is.. get this: un marked Dodge Caravans. Yes, you read right. Anyways, feel free to update this with your own forms of spotting cops, and how we can all prevent one another from getting pulled over, if possible.

1. St. Louis Co. runs Imps, Tahoes, Crown Vics, a couple of one ton Silverados (new) and full size chevy vans. The St. Louis Co dare car is/was a C5 convertible. A few motorcycles as well. They DO use helicopters and planes for clocking as well.
2. State troopers run Crown Vics in varying colors and MOST are unmarked. Plates my not give them away. They will run a plane in the air for clocking speed as well- I was tagged outside of Springfield by one.
3. Charlack, a tiny little piece of **** community near Lambert International Airport, has a Intrepid.
4. There is no set color or scheme for any cop car in Missouri.
5. Chargers are usually the V-6 variety. Even the 5.7s need 14 plus seconds to get through a quarter mile. If you're going 90 in a LS1 put your foot in it he can't catch you alone. That said, you get caught by a motorola and some of his homies thats on you.
6. Maryland Heights, Mo runs motorcycles on the highway offen.
7. St. Charles is also known to run a motorcycle or two.
8. Town & Country runs laser and was the first to run it in St. Louis Co. They are sneaky bastards.
9. In west St. Louis Co.(270 and 40 area) look out for the 94-96 Imp SS in that purplish color they will run you down in traffic to tag you if they need to.
10. If I run 5-9 mph over the limit on the highway I have never been stopped even if I pass along side a moving cop in traffic on a Mo highway. Just don't come off as Joe Hardass so he has a good reason to knock a chip off your shoulder. I.E stare him down, flick him off for f-ing up traffic with his mere presence on the road as everyone is usually afraid to pass him so on and so forth.
Hope this helps the spotters out there.

If you are ever driving through Palatine, IL and see a red (I believe) Dodge Viper, please do not attempt to race him. You may be tempted, but in the end you will be pulled over by the narc behind the wheel. Yes, Palatine, IL has an unmarked Viper in their motor pool as it was confiscated from some rich douche a while back.
