Come on now Dan. That was a Ford Festiva wasn't it. Maybe a Focus.
J/K Good runs. Your car runs pretty good to be that low compression. What kinda power you expecting on boost?

Oh yeah about the whole weight thing. My car weighs 3480 full of gas without me in it. Only thing removed is the spare tire and jack. I still can't 60ft. worth a **** but I blame that on the Nittos.

Many times, the cars with less power win races for many reasons, thats why we street race to begin with, otherwise we could just ask how much power eveybody is making and assume wins based on that.

I could agree with you if we were talking about an iron 03 Cobra block but we are talking about the weight of a car with aluminum block and heads.

I have found countless articles that stay it wieghs that, but anyways I do look like a newbie in this one for some reason, I fucked up when I said the only good thing ford ever made was a 9" I am not all knowing but I know a fair share about alot of different cars. I dont know Dan and there are alot of bullshitters out there so he should expect some doubt, especially when both cars have eqaul wieght and one has 40 more hp and still loses. The only thing is in street races you never know whats gonna happen.

the reason why they wiegh more is because of the heads. The motor was such a tight fit that they switch to a hydraboost(spelling could be off) brakeing system becuase of the huge heads.

My SS weighed right at 3500 pounds with an oron block 408 in it that weighs 80 pounds more then the LS1.

And I agree I dont you see you running even with those cars at that HP level. WAs it dynoed on a Mustang dyno? Maybe the dyno was reading low? I went one place with my 408 and dynoed 430 rwhp and every other dyno read 460 rwhp.

Good article, thats a quick Mach 1. Too bad its only a 4.6, imagine how interesting things will get when the ante up the displacement some. Since you are learning, look at the 1st gear ratio (3.38) and the rear gear (3:55) and you will understand how they will launch a bit better than F-bodies. Im not sure why they didnt put a 6spd in it though. The weights do look basically even to me unless you have a loaded F-body w/ T-tops.

It is possible that the dyno is reading low. A lot of people I have talked to said that there dyno is off by about 20hp but I really doubt my car is making 360rwhp with a low compression motor full exhaust, cold air and big turbo cams. Most cammed high compression Mach1's put down around 380rwhp or so, but that is with 2 points higher compression too.

A point of compression on average only adds 3% more hp .06*380= 22 so that would put you about 360rwhp. Just thought I would throw that out there.

Well I'm going to go get it dyno'd at another shop just to see, but my numbers didn't seem that far off compaired to other dyno's I have gone to back when the motor was stock. They were all right around the same hp & tq numbers so I don't know.

Depends on options and what not. I've seen anywhere from 3450-3650 posted.

F bodies weight more then that . TRY 3600lbs

My example
Mach 3475lbs + 175 driver=3650
Fbodies 3600 + 175 driver=3775
Thats if the drivers weight the same, Difference of 135lbs

Mach weighs a little less and 100lbs can make the difference of win by one or losing by one. That doesnt include the weight of the driver

Two Cents
