Default unexpected highway run with lotus

coming home from work and i have a lotus exige come up on me. i get over and he pulls maybe two car lengths ahead of me then starts pacing me. well we eventually go at it when he abruptly takes off and i follow suit.

he started off around 2 cars ahead and by the time we got to 110 or so and shut it down, i was about half a car behind. dont know if he was messing with me, a bad driver, or i overestimated his car.

when we got to the exit i had to take, exchanged smiles and thumbs up and went on our ways. pretty cool old guy and my first time playing with a semi exotic car.

me-2000 ss bolt on

him-lotus exige, year and mods unknown

I'm surprised you didn't beat him....... from what I know (i could be wrong) they aren't that fast in a straight line as they are around corners. I guess anything CAN happen on the street.

They have a good 0-60 but tend to loose steam as the speeds increase.

Well there are two models of the Exige, and they're both supercharged... I wouldn't feel too bad. They weigh in at just over 2,000lbs.

the 2000lb weight seems about right as the car looked like it would fit in the back of a mid size truck

Ya they are quick cars. I know the one that used to come by the shop had the 1.8L Toyota motor, same thing as Celica GT-S, just different ECM calibration and 2K LBS curb weight. I would think should be good for low to mid 13s.

I drove the NA Elise and its slow as ****. Deff should be ableto beat it. Even though its 1900lbs I would doubt that most could get it lower than 14s.

I raced my buddies automatic altima 3.5 with it from about a 50 punch and by 90 I had maybe 2 cars on him. I didnt find though that it dropped off in the top end. I brought it to about 130mph and it didnt fall flat on its face like I thought it would for a 4cyl covertible with bad aero.

There is a blue elise that runs down here at firebird raceway.
