Default Couple races in my 09 G8 GT!

Bought it yesterday, picked it up today at the dealership with 5 miles on it!

I'll be selling my 1994 Z28 now, so we had to find out how the new car stacked up against it. My brother drove my Z28 and we made a few runs. After a couple botched run trying to get the downshifting right and pick the right gear, we made a couple solid runs.

From a dig the cars were close at first, with the G8 pulling slowly ahead. By about 90 mph the G8 had a little over a car length. After 90mph the G8 starting pulling away like a bastard, with about a 4 car lead by 110-120mph.

From a 1st gear roll it was about the same result, but the G8 pulling about a car ahead until 90, where it walked away hard.

From a 65 mph roll they were close for a second and then the G8 started pulling.

Overall I was very pleased with the performance of the G8. This was all done with the traction control on. The Z28 ran a 14.3 @ 98 mph at the track so I have no trouble believing that the G8 is a 13 second car. After a few more miles it will probably pull even harder.

Later today my friend wanted to go cruising in his cammed 2002 TA. It put down 385 rwhp, but he has been having transmission problems, and it gives him trouble shifting. We think it may be master cylinder related (should be fixed shortly).

We did a dig run where he gave me the jump. He had some traction problems so I was able to jump out good, but once he got traction he came walking past pretty good.

Then we did a roll from 50 mph. He put it in 3rd gear because he was worried about kicking it sideways (the roads weren't great today). He let me punch it and when he saw my car take off, he hit it. Due to my taking the hit, it was close for a second and then he started walking hard as is expected. Both good runs! My brother will post up the videos tomorrow.

I gotta say that I'm very pleased with the performance of the G8, and I can't believe how hard it pulls up top for it's size!

heavier car with more power will always pull a lighter car with less power as speed increases. Run some stock Gts and stock ls1 cars and let us know how it turns out.

My next race will be against a bone stock 6 speed 2004 GTO. I think it'll be a great race. Being an auto I'll probably pull out the win from a dig. I'm curious how the race will go from a roll. The best time on the GTO is a 13.7 @ 104 mph.

Hmmm, I wonder if my pile could hang in the 1/4, now that I have DRs. When are you taking it to the track?

Nice choice. Now you can find some SRT8's and CTS-V's to play with too. Get a tune asap since its an A6. The trans tune is crazy for a A6!

Those were good runs, btw that was my car in the vids.

1st race I didnt catch traction till 3rd gear and it will instant pull.

2nd after I pulled good and before I hit the brakes I just coasted, the roads were VERY wet and we had hesitated running the cars but I had the itch.

The G8 pulls VERY well and has no trouble beating up on 04 m6 GTo's and LT1 automatics lol!

Those were great runs. I was video taping for the TA run and driving the LT1 in those races. He's dead on with the description of the LT1 races. From a dig or low roll, he'd put just over a car up to 90ish and then start walking HARD. By the time I saw 110 on the LT1, he was ANOTHER 3 or so cars in front. And the TA had no traction on the first run because the roads were still a bit damp, but as soon as he caught traction he went screaming by.

The LT1 runs were a lot of fun.

first thing i would do with a G8 is go have it tuned for 93 octane and squeak out as much HP as possible before KR shows up.

Yeah, when the time comes I'm probably gonna due a CAI and tune first. The tune usually gains 20ish hp, but I think it gains more from tuning out the torque management.

I really like those cars. I would love to have a 13 second grocery getter. Nice choice!
