2009 G8 GT vs 2004 GTO
My car has less than 200 miles on it, bone stock, picked it up yesterday from the dealership.
The 2004 GTO is an M6, stock except for a B&M shifter. The GTO has about 8,000 miles on it, dynoed 300 rwhp and 325 rwtq on a dynojet, and has run a best of 13.7 @ 104mph.
First run was from a dig. I got a little better launch and slowly pulled about a car lead by 100 mph. After 100 the pull stopped and no one gained or lost any ground.
Second run was from about 20 mph. We both hit it and I jumped out about 1/2 a car. From there I slowly pulled until I was a little over 1 car in front at about 100 mph where we let out.
Third run we went from 50 mph. I pulled about a car to 100 mph and then to 120mph no one gained or lost ground.
Fourth run we went from about 30 mph. I started 1/2 car back (my nose midway on his door). Three honks and we hit it. I slowly pulled, but I could hear him shifting the ***** off it, with it chirping on the 1-2 shift and on the 2-3 shift. By about 100 mph they were even with my car having maybe a bumper on him. It was even to 110 mph and then 110-120 mph it looked like he was VERY SLOWY creeping back putting us about dead even when we let off at 120 mph.
Overall I was very pleased with the performance of my car considering that the GTO is slightly lighter, M6, and should make about the same power as my car. I can't wait to get to the track and hope to see a 13.6 out of it on a decent day!

Yeah, I plan on racing the notch next You're brother already said he's up for it, and since he beat my LT1 it should be a good race!
Also, PSM smacked me around tonight, but I can say that for a stock 4000 lbs car, my G8 doesn't do too bad, lol.

Thanks!
Yeah, I'm in the process of joining G8Board.com right now. I'm very impressed with what I've seen for gains with basic mods on these cars. That's one of the reasons I have no problem selling my stock LT1 project and going this route. I will keep this car stock for now, but once I get my 2002 Z28 straightened out a bit more then I'll be starting small on the G8 and working my way up. I'm not gonna go all out on it though because the car is just too nice to put a cage or anything in, but some basic bolt-ons and 12 second timeslips will be in this car's future
Also, next I'd really like to find a stock 2005+ Mustang GT to run against. That should be a good race as well I'd think.

Yeah, I don't think it will be a problem to get vids of that race when it happens. The car is a cam/bolt-on 1992 notchback. It should make around 230rwhp, but it's very light and it beat my LT1 from a dig.

I have done a bit of research on different combo's and it seems that 220-230 is about where a mild cam and a few bolt-ons 5.0 stangs runs for power. This isn't a ***** out car, it has moderate mods (stock lower intake, stock MAF, cone filter on the air tube, etc). I think the car has the possibility of gaining 15 or so rwhp just from finishing the bolt-ons. The car does have LT headers though.

Its a car that really needs injectors, MAF, fuel pump, A/F Pressure regulator and a dyno tune.
That car should pick up really good.
