My Strano Springs Installed
#21
Thanks for all of the replies and praises.
Sam Strano has produced a product that I'm 110% satisfied with. In my eyes these are the only springs you should buy if you want your car to handle well.
I know I'll be even happier once I got some quality shocks

My wheels look like that, off center, now and its stock. I'm sure Sam will chime in on this. I would like to hear what he has to say about adjusting LCA's for this.

Car looks good Kingc8r! I have my Strano springs waiting in the foyer.
Just out of curiosity, how does it "ride" with the DeCarbons? I'm going to have to use my new Bilstein HDs for the time being, but was just curious how yours rides as is?

You can use adjustable control arms to cure this, but it's critical that you also get the car aligned and check the thrust angle of the axle and adjust that so the axle ends up pointing straight ahead.

He's talking about lowering the entire PHB down. I'm not crazy about a really low roll center, and if I want one I'd do it with the Watts link instead. Simply because the Watts link has three big advantages vs. a true lowered PHB setup (not the PHB relocation kits that are made to only clear exhausts).
The three advantages a Watts has over "proper" lowered PHB?
1. A Watts bolts in, not welding required.
2. Better adjustment range (you can drop the RC in much smaller increments
3. Better geometry as PHB is still subject to the lateral arc and jacking effects as the body moves. Though the lower you go the less pronounced the arc is.

I also am trying to see how long it takes for the shocks to stop feeling as good as they do now that way when someone asks about using the stock shocks I can give them some informed advice....

Thanks Sam, I'll be getting better shocks shortly. I wanted to feel just the difference in the springs.

Completely understandable. And you aren't the first to have tried that. The worst I've heard yet is the ride didn't suffer while handling improved from the springs. Admittedly I'm happy (and a bit surprised) to hear it's working so well for you as is. It's largely a matter of perspective as anyone who's gone from stock shocks to appropriate aftermarket ones can attest.
I'm glad you like your springs.

LPHB-Lower panhard bar.
UE-Unbalanced Engineering. They are a company that makes brackets to lower panhard bars.
I understand where you are coming from Sam but I don't have the cash for the Watts Link. Its easier and cheaper for me to buy and weld on some brackets. Again, the car is just awesome! Thanks again Sam.

Those of you who have 18" rims and Strano springs, can you post some pics, please.
What rim width...?
What size tires...?
I trying to decide what rim/tire sizes to budget for.
(I am sorry if I am hijacking the thread... it is a related topic tho)
Thanks,
Joe
