Default Calling SJM ABS delete users

Hey guys. I just got my SJM ABS delete kit today. I will be doing the install this weekend. I am reading through the directions and at the bottom of the first page it mentions Optional GM non-traction control cable. My car is a 4 channel and does have traction control and I want to get rid of it so does this mean that I need this cable it mentions? Is this cable only if you want to get rid of the black motor over on the passenger side of the engine bay? I don't mind the black motor thing being there I Just don't want to have to disable TCS anymore when I start the car. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

u dont absolutely need the non-TCS cable. yes the non-TCS cable is if u want to get rid of the TCS module

i did the ABS delete on mine and removed the TCS module and got a non-TCS cable just because it looks cleaner under the hood

If you ditch the "gizmo" you need both the throttle
and cruise control cables. I got them from the local
dealership after failing to find any online (no #s until
I got the boxes). I think I posted the proper #s but
probably in the external engine section, been 6-12
months since then I think.

Cruise control drops out pretty easy, you have to
replace the cable / tape at the cruise servo end
and the other hooks to the throttle body cam
rather than the "gizmo".

If you ditch ABS then the whole TCS/ASR scheme
goes dead, other than the stupid light. So may as
well pull the "gizmo" and the "brain" too, a couple
more pounds saved.

But you don't strictly -have- to change the cables.
Unless (like me) it binds up the throttle cable draw
on you. But that's an unrelated (to ABS delete)
issue.

Well I actually want to keep my cruise control, I just want the ABS/traction control gone. Is this possible or if I delete my ABS does the cruise control not work either?

if you're only looking to "clean up" the engine's appearance. you can unbolt the TCS module and put it up under the wiper cowl by the ECM. i haven't done it, but seen a few who have. it helps a lot and is free, minus the cost of zip ties or screws or whatever you use and requires no cables.

if the cruise runs of off its own computer, (i think it does) then u can have cruise with no ABS/TCS

but if cruise, ABS, TCS share a computer, than u can run cruise

Ok so I am a little confused here. Here is what I want basically and you guys tell me if this is possible and what I need. I want to get rid of ABS so that I can run taller tires in the rear of the car than the front. I want to get rid of the traction control system because I hate having to turn it off and worry about it messing me up at the track.

I like cruise control and want to keep it and I don't mind having the black motor thing over on the passenger side of the engine bay which I am pretty sure is for cruise control.

I am getting rid of the ABS by using the ABS removal kit form SJM Manu. Is there anyway to also disable the traction control and still have the cruise control function or is that not possible.

Also do I need any cables to make this happen or is my stock setup just fine?

cruise control is seperate. it's box is on the drives side by the tire.

you need:
throttle cable from a non tcs car.
cruise control cable from a non tcs car.

instead of both cables running into the tcs box, your throttle cable will run directly from the pedal, to the TB. And the cruise cable will be from the cruis box, to the TB.

i'm 95% sure deleting ABS shouldn't affect cruise control at all.

What will happen if I just leave mine the way it is right and just install the ABS delete kit? Will my throttle and everything work or will it not work without these cables?

But the traction control system will still operate correct or will it not because of the ABS being gone?

So let me get this straight. With the abs/tcs delete kit and NO cable changes the cruise will not work at all?? I was unaware of that. However, if you buy the above mentioned cables the cruise will again work properly????

depends on if the cruise runs off of the ABS module which i dont remember. but if the cruise runs off of its own circuit, then it would still work with the 'dead' TCS module. also if the cruise runs off of its own circuit, u could by a non-TCS TB and cruise control cable which both run directly to the TB

Thank you for your purchase. Please let me know if you have further questions. If you need a quick response, feel free to call me directly.

Giving a bit of guidance (as some have already done), just to reiterate and give a bit of clarification/assurance, removing ABS has no affect on your cruise control if you have it.

Traction control will not function when ABS is removed (not that it matters...who benefits from TCS? It's a hassle and is bad for forced or N20 setups )

Replacement cable part numbers should be listed on the direction sheets if you so desire to remove the TCS box(it dead weight so I'd advise removing it for weight and appearance benefits...not to mention easier to work on the engine).

The part numbers for non TCS setups are as followed:

Optional GM non-traction control setup:
NON-TCS throttle cable(98-99) 12565559, (00-02)12565560.
NON-TCS cruise control cable; (98-99) 12554668, (00-02) 12563627.

You don't have to remove the TCS box if you so desire. It is up to you.

So then that black motor thing over on the passenger side of the engine bay is just for traction control? Where is the motor or whatever that controls the cable for cruise control then?
