Filled with PS Fluid instead of Dex III

Filled with PS Fluid instead of Dex III

For what ever bone head reason I filled my power steering rack back up after headers with PS Fluid instead of DEX III. I plan to crack the lines tomorrow, jack the car up in the air and turn the wheel back and forth draining the rack with the engine off and flushing with DEX a few times.

I drove it just down the block and back, didnt ever get to the hot line. Did I mess anything up potentially by putting PS fluid in?

You filled your POWER STEERING RACK with POWER STEERING FLUID.

HOLY **** YOU'RE A MADMAN.

Dude, in all seriousness, why would you fill it with anything else? It's power steering. Put power steering fluid in it. Why the hell would you fill it with transmission fluid? I can't see any benefit of doing that...like...at all.

Im glad I read this thread.

Just purchased 2 quarts of PS fluid... but apparently ill be using the dex 3 instead...

No manual and no stock cap.

Hmmm, I didn't think they used power steering fluid and tranny fluid interchangeably in about 20 years.

If that's the case, then you can use power steering fluid in place of tranny fluid, but I wouldn't go the other way.
