Some_punk--

I have to be blunt. You are not my customer. You are UMI's customer. They are getting paid to handle your order. I am selling the parts to them, not to you. As such you have to ask UMI these questions because I work with order numbers and invoices on wholesale product.

You need to have them check with me. They have to give me the order number (or something else that identifies the order for me to know). They are not filed by name, and even if they were I don't think some_punk is your name.

I went round with you on this on the springs, I cannot do it with the bars.

Update: New runs of bars are officially on order and I can now take backorders on front bars only or full sets of hollow bars.

Cost are: Set of hollow bars $439. Front bar only $239. Rear bar only $210.

All bars come with all new hardware including bushings, brackets and endlinks.

All bars can be found and ordered here: http://www.stranoparts.com/searchbym...=126&ModelID=7

As a reminder about the hollow bar sets:

-Set of front and rear sway bars
-35mm front, 22mm rear
-Lighweight hollow tubing saves approximately 5 pounds per set compared to OE bars
-Significant weight savings vs. solid aftermarket bar sets. 20 pounds lighter than 35/21-22 solid bar sets. Approximately 15 pounds less than solid 32/21 or 32/22 combinations.
-Complete with new endlinks, bushings and mounting bushings and brackets
-Black powdercoat

The size and balance of these bars was determined on my own car, and no other bar set offers the weight savings, roll stiffness, and proven results of the Strano Performance Parts hollow set. Used to win multiple SCCA National Championships. Used on GMHTP's street/strip/track car "1SC-YA" and were part of the suspension that dropped almost 4 seconds per lap off the baseline times (on street tires) and 7.9 seconds in total (r-compound tires).

Thought this would be a good place to put this since we're talking about handling. I think this link will give you only a taste of what Stranoparts can do for your cars.

Difference between Z28 and SS

I basically duplicated Sam's setup sway bar wise with a hollow 35mm front hotchkis(I found it used and cheap, but in new condition) and I used a strano rear hollow 22mm. I still have stock SS springs and shocks. I have to say my car handles like a BEAST!!! I didn't tighten my endlinks tight enough the first time and it still handled better than stock lol. I tightened them up just right like two days ago and MAN...it feels like a completely different car.

When I found that post I put above it made me think of how good my car is handling right now. Imagine when I get the konis and the strano springs...

I have ordered a front bar as well. I have already installed a bigger rear bar (bought used) which helped but (as Sam says) made the rear a little loose. That front bar should even things up. After that, an alignment and tires should have me ready for the road coarse.

I am pretty sure you do not need an alignment for sway bars, but maybe for the road racing part(temporarily, right?)

I hope I can pick these bars soon. First in list are the Strano springs and Konis

Yes, I'm talking about a "performance" alignment. I was killing the outside edges of the tires last time out. I have the specs I want and will probably keep it that way. I don't drive the car ever day so I'm not worried about a little adverse wear.

Correct. Swapping bars does not in any way effect the alignment of the car.

I run a more aggressive alignment all the time, because if you do it right you won't shred tires and always have the better grip. The trick is to make sure you run a pretty neutral toe-setting. Do that and you can add a pretty damned good amount of negative camber and not eat up the insides of the front tires.

You need to put negative camber in the car. In fact as much as you can get (as long at you don't get past -2 degrees). The car will be faster (and looser, so it's good you have the bigger front bar coming to balance the larger rear bar you already have). Camber will add grip because you will have more contact patch on the ground in corners. And you'll not wear the outside edges nearly as much because the car will turn better and the load better distributed over the tire.

For the record. I have 25 front, and 15 rear bars coming. I have 9 front and rear sets sold. 3 individual fronts too.

That means I have 13 fronts and 6 rear bars remaining from this run (we will be making more). Just letting you all know as I know many have been waiting since about last August for a set of hollow bars front and rear.

Sam,

Are the stock bars on a 02 SS 32mm and 19mm? Solid or hollow?

SS comes with 32mm hollow front, 19mm solid rear unless there is some other option like an Ultra Suspension or SLP built 1LE on the car which would then have a hollow 35 front, solid 21mm rear.

Okay the front is about 1 1/8 and the rear is about 3/4 of an inch. Will I need the 35/22 combo to complete the "Strano Combo"? I have your springs and the Koni's

32 is 1-1/4, not 1-1/8" (that'd be about 30mm which a stock Z28 has). 19mm is 3/4".

Do you need the bars? Up to you... do you want similar balance but with a 30% increase in roll stiffness?

You are correct, it was 1-1/4. 30 % huh? Sounds good to me. Save me a pair. I will get on line and order now.

Thanks
