Default Aerospace brake pads, WTF?

So I bought Aerospace brakes out of the classifieds sometime last year, spindles, rotors, and all. So I put it all together and it seems the pads just lay in there? Am I missing a clip or something? I don't see what pulls the pad off the rotor.

The pads lay in the PAB bracket. There isn't anything that pulls them off of the rotor.

When I turn the rotor it scrapes, making a very annoying whooshing noise. I can imagine how annoying it will be driving it.

New pads will rub somewhat but after breakin they have a small gap when no brake applied they do let loose but they just sit there.

Where the pad's ears are that slide into the bracket on top and bottom there should be a small metal clip. I swap these out yearly. Not sure if it's needed that often. I would probably want to make sure it's there at least.

It's almost like they rattle. Not sure what to say about it. I just expected a retaining clip or something.

that wooshing noise you hear with your head right next to the rotor? You will not hear that when you are driving down the road. Ive been working on cars for 12 years, that is normal. If there was a gap between the pad and the rotor then your brake pedal would feel horrible. There is supposed to be very very slight contact between the pad and rotor at all times.

K. This setup just seems very different than stock type brakes.

it should have a pin that goes through the top of the caliper on one side, then through both brake pads, then through the top of the other caliper. That is all that is needed to keep the pads in place.

From memory, there's a long 5mm bolt that runs through the backside of the caliper.

I dont have any experience with aerospace brakes, I just looked at the pictures. I have experience with Baer, willwood and brembo, so I am going by those companies products.
