Traction problems
i had riken raptors. i couldn't get traction with those. car would go sideways quite a bit just shifting into 2nd (auto trans).
i hate to say it, but if you want traction, you're going to sacrifice treadwear.
a couple guys on here go with falken azenis rt615 (i have them up front) which are pretty grippy but not really enough even then.
i'd recommend R compound tires (which get really soft and sticky when they heat up). if you're already running and complaining about 12.90's now, your best bet is to get some nitto 555R drag radials on the back at least... or go with a full slick on a separate rim that you can swap on for the track.
i found a really good cheap suspension mod for traction to be lower control arm relocation brackets
The car was a repo before I got it and some of the good stuff was taken off of it before I got ahold of it (wheels, power seats, etc.) so I'm stuck with 16" stock rims. But I know what you mean about sliding sideways when shifting into second because thats exactly what mine is doing. So it is sounding like better tires are the only reasonable option at this point?

I'm running BF KDW's now. If you are having traction problems! I would recommend a set of Lower Control Arm Relocation Brackets. They allow you adjust your lower control (We have experienced the best performance setting is the lowest setting on the brackets) They are designed to eliminate wheel hop and Improve your traction performance! Below is a link to show you what we have to offer. If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I will be glad to help!
