Default Best Subframes? Opinions Please

Who makes the best SF connector? Or would it be better to have customs done at a shop like Midwest Chassis?

Everyones going to have a different story, most of the popular SFCs are made of the same material (wall size and dimensions) so its pretty much your decision. Also you could search subframes and find a bunch of information.

when i get mine im going with the umi 3 point tubular in red.

I went with BMR when I bought them for my old car and they made a huge difference. But BMR was honest right there when he said you probably wont notice big difference between manufacturers. I will probably be going back to BMR when I buy them for my new car.

While materials are pretty much all the same, and 2-pt connectors are pretty much all the same style, there are differences in fit. Functionally I agree that there are so many 2-pts. and most are as effective as another. You are buying fit, finish and easy of installation, and that is not the same everywhere.

Some do not make 3-point connectors, which triangulate the connector and make it that much stronger. UMI does, so does SLP. I sell both, but prefer UMI's. They cost less, fit great, tuck under the car better. SLP's are very strong, but a bit heavier and more costly.

What would be the biggest difference in choosing chromoly? In other words what is the easiest way to justify the extra cost? Is it strength? Weight savings? Other?

Weight savings. A 1ft piece of 2x2x.120 wall chromoly will weight the same as a 1ft piece of 2x2x.120 wall mild steel. But the chromoly is significantly stronger therefore a thinner wall tube could be used to have the same strength as the thicker, heavier mild steel.
