Somebody once told me , lca relocation brackets were only supposed to be done if the car was lowered. is this true?

i have read the stickies but they dont answer my question.

Rod214 I see that you put the control arm on the bottom hole. Is you car lowered are stock height? Reason I am asking I bought some from a friend of mine and I was told to use the lowest one if you car is lowered and the middle one for stock height. I am about to install mine in about 5 mins from now and my car is stock height. I'm just trying to do some research. I was thinking of putting them on the lowest one with stock height

The only lowering I did was the heater hose mod on the rear springs.

This is from the WS6STORE.com website for the lca relocation brackets.

Lowered Vehicles: We do not recommend lowering a 3rd or 4th generation F-Body without lower control arm relocation brackets due to the compromise in the geometry on the instant center. Brackets will significantly improve instant center position, eliminate wheel hop and increase traction. Brackets installed will also help 60-foot times of .10 or better, lower ETs and increase track consistency--a must for all lowered vehicles!

Non-Lowered Vehicles: Product installed on a stock height vehicle will also see a great increase in traction by lowering the rearward angle of the lower control arm, allowing more force to be placed on the rear tires. Relocation brackets have two settings to allow the lower control arm to be lowered either 2" or 3", depending on your preference. Settings are placed in a correct pattern that will allow use of all OEM control arms or any aftermarket control arm (brackets do not require a longer control arm.) Brackets installed on a non-lowered F-Body provide a .10 or better 60-foot; reduction and an increase in track consistency.

Just a thought, I'd flip the bolt around to give you more clearance with your tire. I don't have the brackets yet, but it appears it is low enough to touch the sidewall of the tire.

These are the next thing going on my car. How much was that rear sway bar btw and where did you get it?

i put mine in the other way just in case. nothing to worry about with 17" wheels though. even with 15's i highly doubt you'll have problems.

^ I've got 18 x 10.5"s and they don't hit... My buddy's got 17x11's and his don't hit.. depends on the offset and width of the wheel.

If any one is interested, i've got a set of used, red UMI bolt-in re-lo brackets. I'm asking $85 shipped, firm! They come with brand new in bag hardware from UMI. I just ordered the hardware last week, and the hardware alone is $15 and change for parts and shipping.

These are UMI part # 2012 with *NEW IN BAG* hardware. The bag has never been opened.

I can get you pics if needed. I'm going in a different route (12 bolt ), and wont need these.

Thanks, and sorry for the ROD214. Oh, and great looking set up!!

Oh, and Brad at UMI is the man!

No that is not true! You can use them on factory ride height vehicles and when using them on a lowered vehicles the regain your traction loss and eliminate wheel hoop and regains your performance!

cutting and grinding down the parking brake brackets were the biggest pita when i installed mine; looks like you found a much easier way of doing it.
