Nothing new to report on the Trans Am.

I've been spending my time fixing up my new daily driver and putting a sound system in it.

I need to fab up some hood latches and headlights before I'd call it "drivable". Lately I've only driven it around my neighborhood at low speeds when I feel the need. The air springs feel good as far as ride quality goes, but I haven't really put it to the test yet.

Maybe I'll strap the hood down and do some slalom type driving and compare it's handling to the steel spring setup. When I do, I'll report back. Right now I'd say it's very similar.

If your still following this thread I have done a complete air ride system on one of these and it will just about lay rocker on the ground and go up to the point where there is around 7 inches of ground clearance. Shockwaves front and rear with custom fabricated upper and lower control arms front and rear. Ill post some pics if I can find any.

Good thread JasonWW/Obee
You could use a different shock if money is tight, including the stock ones. It's just that the stock ones ride really bad compared to Bilstein or Koni. Just as long as it's main body tube is under a certain diameter (2.14" I think?).

Nice work, I am planning on airbags too, but my car is a thid-gen, so the front will be different. Are you going to be selling the rear upper plates? or do you have the measurements? When will you be doing some driving tests? I am wondering how the ride is and if the handleing is the same or better, or hopefully not worse.

Since you can use any shocks you want without making any modification to your car you should be able to have great handling with some really good shocks.
BTW, the handling should be about the same, but the ride should definitely be better!

I didnt read the whole thread, but it seems like a floating upper cup would be the easiest option on the rear, with a 2500 or 2600 bag depending on room. this would ride a lot better than sleeve bags too. Again, i'm not sure how much room there is in there for a diff bag besides a sleeve

floating cup is what I use on most old cars with a factory link suspension

."The loss of head pressure on the fill valves will cause them to open and all FOUR bags will deflate, dropping the car and possibly leading to an accident"

this is the one disadvantage to using a solenoid valve. I've had this happen and thats why people should triple check everything on their air suspension when building it.

I recently had a left front bag develop a decent sized leak on my 66 impala, on the hot rod power tour 2010, on the interstate at 75. It wouldnt be such a big deal in some cars, but mine lays flat out...so it had to be raised..over and over and over and over..so I used up all my head pressure to get it off the interstate..came in to a pilot station dragging the hell out of it
