Default I bought a used Hotchkis sway bar...

...how do I make sure it's legit?

Does the bar actually have hotchkis in white letters painted on the bar like I see on their website?

If I don't see the lettering when I recieve it, I plan on measuring the OD and weighing it also. I bought it off a guy over on norcal-lsx and he said it is, even included a link to the bar in his post. What has me skeptical is that he said the bar weighed 27 lbs at UPS which to me seems too heavy for a hollow bar. He also has a link in his sig that shows his car has/had a ST 35mm front sway and I'm afraid he might be passing it off as a hotchkis.

Here's the link http://www.norcal-lsx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67971

I could just be paranoid but for $70 I could'nt pass it up. Hopefully when I receive it my fears will be layed to rest.

Anyone with a hotchkis sway bar care to chime in?

The bar itself it 27? Because that's pretty much exactly what a solid 35mm bar weighs. One of my hollow 35's is 22 pounds, boxed (in a huge box), with all the hardware (in another box). The bar itself is under 20 pounds. 1mm more size doesn't add much weight, at all.

Hi Sam, yup that's what the guy told me it weighed at UPS. I don't know if he is misinformed or what but he is adamant it's a hotchkis. Still waiting for it to arrive so I can find out.

By the way I heard the stock sway brackets break when upgrading to a bigger bar. Do you sell reinforced ones?

I've got Hotchkis swaybars on my car, but without an actual photo of the front bar he's sending you I really can't say.
But I do know for a fact that the bar doesn't weigh 27lbs, probably really close to what Sam's front bar weighs.
And it a 1-7/16" bar(Hotchkis), not a 1-3/8" bar(ST)

Upgraded brackets are one of the very few things I can't help you with. But Blaine Fabrication in CA has them, and he's a stand up guy. Sorry, don't have the contact information off hand, but shouldn't be hard to find.
