is there a tool i can rent to compress the front spring on my 99 trans am?
im going to be buying lowering springs soon, and im fine with doing the rear springs and just wondering how some of you guy might have compressed the front for replacement?

Go to Auto Zone or any other place that rents tools and ask for a spring compressor. Simple to use, and effective...if I recall correctly, the stock springs have fairly closely spaced coils, so it can be a bit more difficult to get the tool on the coils, but other than that, they work pretty well.
If you really get in a bind, just go to a tire store and ask how much they charge to compress/remove springs.

Yeah you might be better off just bringing the coil assembly to the shop and have them do it real quick. I used spring compressors rented from autozone and it was a pain. Next time I'll bring the coil assembly to the shop. You have to fight with the compressors to get those things compressed. You'll get a good workout.
