Don't even bother trying to get a fixed caliper on an axle with c-clips. the axle shaft moves in and out as your corner, and the floating caliper moves to allow this.

A fixed caliper will just get the pads pushed back into the caliper, causing a long brake pedal the first time you hit the brakes.

Not worth it IMO.

Would a c-clip eliminator upgrade solve this problem? Or am I stuck with getting a 9-inch if I really want those sweet looking fixed caliper Brembos?

On a side note I went to the dealership today and the parts guys is even swapping the Z51 rotors for the Z06 rotors. Should have them next week.

you guys i need your help.. im trying to do this swap for the ls4 community and the rest of the w bodies.. im trying to fit the camaro ss front brembos on a 2006 impala ss and so far the bolts match up but like said previously i guess the calipers were mad for a 14 inch rotor so they kinda dont cover all the surface area on the rotor so what do you guys suggest having a custom rotor and hat designed or is there a 14 inch rotor that has the same size and offset and some how same bolt pattern to work. cause right now im stumped! any help is really appreciated. thanks

Does Brembo not make any brake conversion kits for the 4th Gen. then? Their website is a little awkward to navigate...

Wow that site does suck! Looks like they make a kit for the 98-02 F-body

Small update. I had a little time today to test fit the rotor and caliper with my wheels.

Looks like I will need about a 15mm hub adapter to get enough clearance which is what I figured. So once the hub adapter shows up and my flynbye brakes arrive I can bolt it together for real!

Here are a couple pics :

Talking

They certainly fill the wheels better. So what has been the total cost?

Did you have to drill out the spindle to mount the caliper or did it bolt right up??

When I go to do the final install, yes I will need to drill out the spindle to make room for the larger bolts. For the mockup I used smaller bolts and nuts to hold it in place.

All the c-clip eliminators I've seen have had a disclaimer that says "not for street use". Apparently they cannot hold the bearings in place when there are lateral g-forces involved, such as going around a corner. They are only useful for the dragstrip, where you are only going in a straight line.

They make c-clip eliminators not only for street use, but even for oval track use. So you *can* get a kit that will work just fine for a street driven car. But you are right, a lot of the c-clip eliminator kits use ball bearings that are designed only for straight line use.
