Default Good Deal?

Hey Ya'll.

I've been a long time reader, but finally decided to sign up. First off, My car is a 1998 Z28 auto with 140,000 miles. A buddy of mine wants to sell me a bunch of parts that he doesn't need. Everything is brand new in boxes, but it includes BMR Torque Arm with UMI relocation, Spohn Panhard bars with relocation, Spohn LCA's with Relocation, Drag Shocks, Pacesetter Ceramic LT's, and a Pacesetter Y pipe. For all of this he wants $700. Is this a good deal? Will it make a noticeable difference in the car? Are there any issues with any of these parts?

Sorry for the length and all of the questions, but I'm pretty new to the LS1 cars, I have had a couple third gens however.

Also, the mods already done to the car are SLP lid, Motive 373's, Mufflex 4" single exhaust with Magnaflow race muffler.

That is a really good deal. I would install everything except the drag shocks, which I would sell and get some proper shocks, but that depends on what the car will be used for.

The car is going to be a daily driver. I drive it about 60-80 miles a day. The only racing will be if it is spur of the moment and it will only be once every few months, if that. I was thinking about selling the drag shocks because from what I understand they make the ride pretty rough.

For new in box, yeah that is a great deal. Heck it'd be good for slightly used as well.

Well, I just got all of the stuff dropped off at my house. He included everything I stated before and also new spark plugs, 3 sets of brake rotors, new brake pads, a new radiator, and a 10 bolt rear, all it is missing is the ring and pinion. Im going to call a shop to get everything installed and a tune in a week or so. The only downside is that the headers are for a 00-02 so I have to do the EGR/ AIR removal, but thats no big deal. Do you think there will be a big difference in the way the car handles/performs?

Nice snag! The headers will really help a lot, the rest will just tighten everything up a lot. If you are going to be driving that thing 60+ miles a day, in my opinion, you might want to sell or trade those drag shocks for something that will ride better, i.e. Bilsteins or Konis. I couldn't be happier with my Bilsteins. Its up to you though. It is nice not to have to hear the AIR pump every time you crank the car.

Sounds good to me. I will check into some new shocks, I might as well get them installed when I get the rest installed. Thanks for the help.

They are adjustable with spherical rod ends. All of the stuff that I got was adjustable and bolt on, a little worried there, I have heard that bolt on is a little weaker then the weld on parts.

that's good that everything is adjustable that way you will have the adjustment later on if you need it... imo the non-adjustable parts are a waste of money, especially if you have to buy everything over again because you found out you need adjustable parts... the rod ends might make a bit more noise but will allow the suspension to articulate the way it wants, so in the end it will handle better... are you referring to the relocation brackets as being "bolt on"??... those are known to move around when only bolted on but you can get them welded so no worries there

Yea, all of the relocation brackets are bolt on. That's good to know, I will just get them to weld them when they are doing the install. What would be the best angle for the torque arm? keep in mind that the car will be used only as a daily driver and will barely ever be raced, I just want something fun with a good bit of power.
