Default Bilstein Used...Yes or No

Got a guy with front and rear with around 20k miles on them. He's not sure if they are HD or SLP.Should I get them if the price is right? I know the HD have lifetime warranty, but will that transfer over to a different owner?

Warranty is original owner only.

As far as what type, depending on how recently he bought them the HD's became identical to the SLPs anyway.

Ok,I'll find out when he returns my pm. Car is lowered approx 1 inch and was told that the SLP would be the better choice. How recently did they start valving HD the same as the SLP?

They both cost about the same new, except the SLP's fronts have better valving.

Sure about that? I thought that the current valving for both is that they are completely identical front with a negligible difference in the rear.

Taking this from posts made by Strano like this one from Feb:
I'll try and make this as simple as I can: Bilstein's in general came in a number of guises over the years. There were old HD's, Revalves I did, old SLP versions, new HD's and new SLP's. Now only the last two exist and are pretty much the same (very slight difference in valving on the rear).

I don't do revalves because it isn't cost effective to do the valving on 4 shocks, have on warranty, wait the 6+ weeks, and have no adjustment all of which you get don't have to deal with, or get with Koni's.

The cost effective option today is SLP Bilstein. If HD's were less expensive, I'd recommend those given the valving differences (or lack thereof). But I can offer SLP versions for less cost.

Given what's out there, if Koni's are a no-go.... then my next recommendation are Bilstein, then KYB AGX/Tokico

Not really true -- Strano recently told me that the SLP versions are ONLY ~5% different in valving from the HDs, and ONLY in the rear. I would hope he knows what he's talking about...

Current HDs are (according to Bilstein's website):

http://www.bilsteinus.com/cart/ymm.p...=CAMARO&zenid=

F4-BE5-2406-M2 MSRP: $217.00 ea FRONT
F4-BE5-2407-H0 MSRP: $132.00 ea REAR

Didn't know that, I thought the valving in the SLP and HD rears was the same.

BTW, he can also use 3rd gen rear bilsteins.

F4-B46-1021-H0 (sport B8)

and

F4-B46-1121-H1 (B6 HD)

Nit-picking. The valving for both HD and SLP's have both changed over the years. There are at least 4 different valvings not including the two 3rd gen rears. And at times the valving between them has been the same, sometimes very different, sometimes barely any difference.

The term "splitting hairs" is what I think. At this time the valvings are different. Very similar, but not the same. I tend to use SLP versions because they cost less and have a little bit extra oomph.
