Talking 6-piston CTS-V Brembos - Full install with pictures on GMHTP.com

We know this has been a pretty hot topic on the forums lately and thanks to Scoggin Dickey, EBC Brakes, Flynbye Performance, OE Wheels and AntiVenom we were able to install a set of 6-piston '09-'10 CTS-V front brakes on the "STI Killer", which for those of you who are not familiar, is an '01 Camaro SS.

To read more, check out the November 2010 issue of GM High Tech Performance or head over to our website and make sure to post up in here if you have any questions or comments.

Thanks,

Justin

P.S - Special thanks to all of those who offered suggestions and advice in previous threads regarding the 4-piston Brembos and C6 Z06 brakes. I used several threads during our planning stages for this mod and they proved very helpful!

Sweet! What are the advantages of the 6 piston over the 4 piston? Also as a side note I have been wanting to get a subscription, any specials for forum members?

those calipers they used are like $450 a piece, the rotors are a little more than a $100 a piece. (you can get '10 Camaro Calipers for under $500 for both)

BUT, i have not heard good reviews of the Z06 rotors on track used cars. SO im looking forward to when the car actually hits the track and see what/if any issues arise.

ya it's 4 piston.

Dont get me wrong, i love the looks of those big *** CTS-V calipers and Z06 rotors. But your talking over a grand PLUS your super limited on wheels that can fit.

I am waiting on results from this setup as well as some other BBK before i lay down the $$.

I am glad GMHTP did the install and provided so much info about it.

very nice. now get a crackin on the rear 4 piston setup. that looks awesome. hope it performs good too. which i'm sure it does. now if there was a way to do the rear on stock rotor to keep factory e-brake or find a larger caliper that accepts stock ebrake then we can save some cashola.

Yeah...that's beautiful...too bad they won't clear my 17x9.5 ZR1's. I had 18" c5z's before and liked the look but the ride was much rougher and cost of tires are much more...I don't think it's worth it for me to do all that just for this brake kit. Maybe if I got sponsored for tires I'd go ahead and go back up to 18's.

GMHTP...thank you for doing that awesome writeup! This is a very simple swap that anyone should do if looking to upgrade their brakes while running bigger wheels.

I am thinking about it. Maybe this winter, ditch the 17" C5 Z06's go 18" and not look back.

I say do it....personally if I did get another set of wheels for the street only...I'd go 18's in the front and 19's in the back....who cares how harsh the ride is at that point when the looks are just sick

that seems a little odd to use a 14in rotor on a caliper setup for a 15.5" rotor, what is the hat offset for the stock CTS-v rotors

I really wish there was a brake upgrade you can do with stock 17's

Awesome Awesome Awesome! Just Awesome! Those brakes look too good to be in a race car! Send em my way when you find some ugly race car brakes! On another vehicle could you guys try the 5th Gen Camaro brakes on a 4th Gen? It'd give a good comparison in work, price and looks so that the Fbody community will have another option for GM parts!

I 2nd the question, any subscription discount for us members? Mine JUST expired. I need my fix of GMHTP back.

Oh, and I LOVE them wheels!

I saw that article a few days ago...looks amazing. I am thinking about swapping my 4-piston CTS-v over to those 6-piston ones...but I tried the p/n listed in the article for the calipers, and one wasn't correct?

Also do you know if its the same brake lines as the ones Flynbye makes for the 4-piston cts-v brembos?
