GMHTP's 6-piston CTS-V Setup
#41
Can anyone confirm the part numbers for the calipers? It seems that one number is missing in the article for one of them (only 7 characters long). 25912477 seems to check out on GMpartsdirect, but the other doesn't.
Also, Justin, if you happen to know if the brakes would work with O E wheels deep dish C5 wheels since you tried various ones of them, I'd love to know that as well.

Doubtful, the corvette spindle has the brake attachment spaced farther out to allow for the bigger rotors, the CTS-v spindle is just like the fbody spindle as far as spacing which is why all there brake setups work for us, if you were to bolt these on they would require HUGE custom rotors and probably 20" front wheels

Are you asking about upgrading the rears to CTS-V's, if so it was discussed in the CTS-V thread stickied up top of the page. The gist of it was that the calipers would not work properly with c-clip rear ends.

what rear rotors r u gonna use? if C6 ZO6 what about the e-brake? I know Kore 3 wants like 600 bucks for the e-brake setup. I seen that Strange has a bearing convversion for the rear. to swap out the c-clips. r u gonna do that as well?

I completely understand if he is just too busy to post anything about it, its just that his account says it is banned, so I don't know how he could post the follow up to this? Just posting on this to keep the thread alive and see if anyone has any details, as it sounds like a really interesting idea!

I don't mean to jack, but my gripe with the CTS-V Brake upgrade is that I have heard very little about a matching REAR upgrade. Strano has also mentioned this now "Un-balanced" setup before too. Stock rears with 6 piston ft calipers and large rotors doesn't sit well with me. The car will be nose-dive happy. You will almost end up with a brake jab = oversteer condition.

This is meant to be a cheaper alternative to aftermarket kits such as Brembo and Stoptech, etc and most of those companies only upgrade the fronts also. If you search around, there has been plenty of discussions about rear upgrades and the consensus seems to be that upgrading the rears is strictly cosmetic and does nothing to improve performance. From looking at my own car the rear brakes don't seem to do much. After three and a half years of almost all city driving the front pads are worn enough that I expect to have to replace them by the end of the summer, the rear pads still look brand new. If it wasn't for the rear rotors staying shiny I would not be able to tell if they were working.

brake bias <--a real good read for anyone interested in learning why the proper brake bias is important.
