bushing between control arm bracket and body??? WTF???

IMO I wouldn't worry about it, just clean up the are where that rubber bushing goes on the top of the control arm mount and either give it a good coat of paint, or grease so it doesn't rust anymore. I'd also recommend a good coat of synthetic grease in the upper mount before you put it back together.
