Can you run say.. Ceramic pads on the rear, and composite pads or metallic pads up front?

You can..

Some guys actually run a less aggressive pad on the rear to reduce wheel hop induced by hard braking on the road course.

I run a mild street pad on the rear and run a fairly aggressive pad on the front, and keep the rear pads in place for the track but step up to a track-pad on the front.

I'm no expert, but I just put new brakes on my 4x4, to get it ready for this winter's duty. The front pads are ceramic, and the rear shoes are metallic....

different compounds are fine. using a less aggressive pad isnt the best option for a road course. you should use a real track pad, but one with less initial bite, to help with brake hop.
