New UMI Parts....
Hi guys. My AWESOME wife bought me a UMI Front Sway bar (sold 35mm I believe?) and a rear solid sway bar (dont know sizes, I know they are BOTH upgrades over stock).
Anyways its for my 2000 Camaro. How hard are these to put on? They both came with new end-links. I never tried to install these before. I looked at LS1howto.com (I think that was the name of the site) but the pictures are too dark for me to really see.
In YOUR opinion, how hard are these to install? I am not a mechanic by any means but I have tools and I have a jack and stands..

shouldnt be too bad to do. you might want to spray the bolts first with penetrating oil so they will be easier to get off. also while you are there get poly bushings. get the black ones from energy susp or something comporable. typically the black poly bushings have graphite added which will prevent them from squeaking. also lube them up really good. just my 2 cents.
easy install all you need is a ratchet and a wrench(forget the size). Take off the old swaybar and endlinks/bushing, install new swaybar,endlinks,bushings. Easiest to do on a lift, or if you have ramps.
Make sure you do it with the suspension loaded, and not the rear end floating, doing it with the rear unloaded will cause unnecessary load on the endlinks/bushings when set back down.
and also, remember to put the rear sway bar on the right way, i say this because i have seen it done before. The rear sway bar should not touch the diff. cover, it should loop below it. hope this is of any help....

I just bought a UMI drag sway bar. cant wait for it to get here. its a pretty easy job.
i think the hardest part which wasnt that hard was getting my old rusted endlinks off when i replaced those a while back. I just took a dremel and cut them in half since they were bad.

FreakishSpeed- Sway bars can be tough to install, but not on ours. It is actually very simple as it just bolts right up without any difficulty. UMI makes top notch stuff, you are going to love your car when its done!
Not hard as long as you have some wrenches, sockets, wratchets, and some pliers. Definately spray the endlinks with some wd40 or pb blaster (my preference). I dont recall the exact size but it should be either a 10, 13, or 15mm. Pretty straightforward unbolt the endlinks then the bushings and the bar is out. Putting them back on i would loosely put the bushings and brackets on then you can still have play to get the endlinks lined up properly. The only thing i see that could be a problem is taking the endlinks loose sometimes if the endlinks are rusted or are being stubborn the rod itself will turn making it unable to get the nut loose so you will need a good pair of pliers to hold the rod, a nice impact gun-wratchet or if you dont have patience a good cut off wheel and you can just cut straight through that sob, haha. Hope that wasnt too confusing!
Congrats! If she really loved you though, she would've gave you a set of Strano bars ... j/k. Actually, sway bars is one of the easy installs on our cars. Just take your time, it's hard to mess up really. If you take your time, first time, front and rear should take about 2.5hrs ... good luck!
